The Manaslu Valley Trek is a remote and spectacular trek with steep tracks and beautiful views throughout the trek.
It is culturally fascinating with strong links to Tibet in the upper Buri Gandaki (called Nupri ‘the western mountains’) and the Tsum Valley, and even includes the Larkya La (5106 m) as a challenge. The views of Mt Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world, are marvelous and spellbinding.
The trek around Manaslu can be done more conveniently these days because there are several lodges available all along the route. There are even phone and mobile access in some parts of the trekking trail. Nearly every village now has a proper lodge. You can certainly find porridge, tsampa, noodles, omelette and roti at most places. While simple, they are clean for the most part. There are also small shops in most villages along the way with limited stocks of soap, toilet paper, batteries, bottled water, biscuits, noodles, beer, whisky etc.
Among the trips to Nepal, this is the absolute highlight, with strong, friendly, hospitable people, a living Buddhist culture and untouched wildlife because of Buddhist prohibitions on hunting.The people are poor, since they have been bypassed by development for centuries, but this means their unique culture has remained intact.
A special Restricted Area Permit is required for Manaslu. In addition, you will need to pay both the Manaslu Conservation Area Park (MCAP) fee and the Annapurna Conservation Area Park (ACAP) fee for the section from Dharapani to Besi Sahar after you join the round-Annapurna trail. My wife and I did the Ama Dablam base camp tour and we absolutely loved it. We had great weather, very comfortable accommodation and the pace set by our guides was very manageable. The food was varied and of very good standards and never shortage of tea and boiled water. The team of guides, porters and cooks could not do enough to make feels safe, comfortable and ready for the next walk. Our leader yangji was incredible; she is very knowledgeable of the region, history, culture, etc and always happy to share that knowledge with the group. She is very caring, supportive and strong as a leader. After having bad weather for our flights out of Lukla, Yangji and the WE team in Kathmandu made all possible efforts to help us get back to Kathmandu safely by helicopter flight. She even managed to get me a birthday cake at the base camp; I will never forget this amazing experience. Thank you so much.

We all had a great time with guide and porters doing everything they could to make our trek as good as possible When they were trying to get info from World Vision local management I felt this was lacking a little as we ended up doing two bus journeys of 10 and 8 hours

Travelling as as single person i find Explore group holidays a good way of seeing countries and places i wouldn’t go to alone. I enjoy the groups company finding like minded people to share meals and have fun and laughter together. Darjeeling and Bhutan is a wonderful trip and experience that i strongly recommend.

Sudarshan was the most wonderful guide we could possibly have. The trip was amazing and he is so knowledgeable and attentive to individuals needs, that he made the whole trek an absolute delight. When the demands of the trek were taking their toll on me he was so attuned to all of us that he immediately recognised I was struggling, long before I was prepared to say anything. Even when we were shredded by leeches, Sudarshan's big smile and calm nature had us all seeing the funny side! He is one of life's treasures and I will take my grandson back to do that trip with him some day.

What an amazing adventure, run by absolute professionals, who know the country and all its seasonal challenges. Every member of the support team were amazing and worked so hard. Very gratefull, especially given the timing of our journey and a natural disaster - we were so blessed on a daily basis.
