Taking a trip to England during winter offers an opportunity to witness the country's timeless charm in a different light. Yes, the days are shorter, and the weather is too cold to stay out for long, but the festive Christmas markets and cozy ambiance make up for these inconveniences. Winter is also an ideal time to explore iconic landmarks and cultural sites in historic cities like York and Bath without the bustling crowds and to enjoy the quiet beauty of the English countryside. Visit central locations like London, beautifully decorated with pretty lights during the holiday season. There are plenty of activities and events to keep you entertained. England Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our England tours

Just completed the UK and Ireland Discovery Tour with my wife and enjoyed it immensely. The trip tour director, Mark W, was superb. He was highly organised and always wanted the best for those on the trip. Some stops were a surprise and added greatly to our adventure. The whole trip was carried out at a really good pace with only one early start due to ferry times. Only the Clayton Hotel in Cardiff needed a bit more attention and air conditioning in Copthorne Hotel in Plymouth would help but this is Insight's responsibilty but also didn't spoil the tour. Highly recommend him and the trip.

It’s ambitious and includes many high points but also doesn’t allow for as many options as I thought. I didn’t realize that all optional experiences were not on offer- only select ones. Would have loved having Cliffs of Mohr included.

There is a very detailed schedule but also leaves you time on your own to shop, rest or whatever. Our host Sicily was just fantastic and couldn’t have been any more informative and accommodating! Really enjoyed the smaller group with plenty of room during travels and all reservations were on time with no issues. Highly recommend this British Royals package… you will not be disappointed! We even added a train ride from Edinburgh back to London for two more nights! Perfect way to close out this wonderful trip!

A great itinerary we went to many countries there were a lot of early starts and long days so we could see it all. Some places we would have liked an extra night but we still had an amazing time

Maureen P. | Traveled in June

I thoroughly enjoyed this trip - my second with Trafalgar. And I’m about to leave on my 3rd- to Spain and Portugal I know that not all the places we visit suits everyone & it is a fine balance. But overall we saw and experienced so much in the 16 days. A taste of Uk.

Gayle H. | Traveled in June

The itinerary is special, plenty of time at various locations throughout the British Isles. The knowledge of the tour director enhanced the experience, even though we had done this tour 10 years earlier, there were plenty of new locations and inclusions to keep us interested the whole tour. We enjoyed extended time at locations we had only briefly stopped at before. Our daughter really enjoyed the tour, even though she was the youngest. The Scottish highlands was the highlight for us, the laneways of London provided a contemporary aspect amongst the historical landmarks. The optional activities were great value, the accommodation and meals a high standard. The coach driver was amazing. Thoroughly recommend Trafalgar tours for a worry free, exceptional experience.
