Italy Cruise Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our Cruise Italy tours

Thomas R. | Traveled in October

There was more walking than we expected, but enough free time to rest and recover. The only optional experience we went on was David in Florence and it was well worth it. Others in the group enjoyed all of the optional experiences. Our tour guide Pamala Russo was great and made sure we all had a good time and added a real personal touch to the trip. The bus was very comfortable and Michele our driver did an excellent job navigating the narrow streets and busy highways.

Awesome trip! It really gives a nice overview of much of the country. We saw so many gorgeous sights. The mix of included and optional activities was great, it gave us the ability to be as busy as we wanted, but also allowed for downtime if we so chose. Most of the activities are in classic tourist areas - very crowded. We also had some activities off the beaten path, which was lovely. Be prepared with good walking shoes, we averaged about 6km per day, and lots of it is over ancient cobblestone and stairs. Our Travel Director was wonderful and all the local tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. This was our first European trip and we loved it.

The yacht cruise and tour manager along with a few days in Venice and Dubrovnik made this trip special! All felt it was one of the best travel experiences we have had.

There were so many memorable experiences with this tour. It is an active itinerary so be in good shape. There was enough free time to balance the time on excursions.

It is packed with lots of things to see. I learned a lot about the areas we visited. There is a lot of walking so people must be prepared for that and not always on smooth flat areas. It can hold up the group if people can't keep up.

Travel tips for Italy Cruise Tour

  • Be mindful of the cruise schedule and set alarms to ensure you do not miss any planned activities or departures.
  • Research and book your desired shore excursions early to secure your spot and make the most of your time in each port.
  • Consider aiming for a cruise duration of 7 to 10 days for an optimal experience, striking a balance between immersive cultural exploration, scenic coastal views, and relaxation.
  • Look for the layout of the ship and avoid cabins near noisy areas such as nightclubs, elevators, or engine rooms. In doing so, also consider your personal preferences and budget and find the one that best suits them, whether it is an inside, ocean view, or balcony cabin.
  • Catch the opportunity to visit popular tourist spots without dealing with peak summer crowds by planning your cruise during off-season months (from January to mid-April, and from mid-September to November).
  • Do not forget to carry sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
  • Keep motion sickness at bay by avoiding heavy or greasy meals before sailing, and taking advantage of natural remedies such as ginger candies or sea bands.
  • Pack light and comfortable clothing for daytime excursions and elegant attire for formal evenings on the ship.
