Frequently asked questions about eco tours in Italy

There was not one experience that did not disappoint being a great one. Marco the tour director I wish I could have him every time. Mt Etna I am glad I met you. Food out of this world. Hotels excellent.
Fabulous itinerary - we visited the most charming towns. It was lovely! The pace was perfect. Our tour guide was fantastic! She kept it interesting and super fun with her fabulous energy! The local tour guides were good too. The hotels were good except for San Gimignano. It was NOT a 4-Star Hotel. The dinner that was included in the tour was a disgrace. Could not believe what was being served. The hotel, while it had a beautiful view, was run down and there was mold in the showers.
Everything was well planned & well executed. We saw so much and learned more than we ever would have on our own. Our guide and driver were amazing! They took care of everything so we could truly enjoy our vacation. I’m glad I chose Insight for our tour. The hotels were nice, the bus was very comfortable, most restaurants were very good, and we had a smaller group. We did add 2 days at the end of our tour to stay in Rome to see more (on our own), and I’m really glad we did. We walked everywhere (safely), and saw so much! You don’t go inside the colosseum or pantheon on the tour, so if that’s a big item on your list be sure to arrive early or stay after the tour to enjoy that. I also highly recommend having an idea of what else you’d like to see in an area because we did have enough free time a few times to explore and see many things on our own, then meet up with the group and get back on the bus. Don’t skip going inside the churches - they’re so beautiful and many are free! Comfortable shoes are a must! We used a card to pay for almost everything everywhere we went, but you do need some cash & coins.
Our hiking guide, Enrico, was excellent! We truly felt like he cared about us and tried to cater each day to all of our desires. He was energetic and positive, knowledgeable and communicated well. Our hotel was also excellent! They, too, seemed to really care about all of us and wanted to meet our needs. The food was very good and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We loved San Lazarro where the hotel was located. It was a quiet and peaceful town. And, I must add that the bus drivers were excellent! Wow, how could they do that driving on the very narrow roads. They had excellent control of their large buses in very tight situations.
I liked the fact that it was a one-week tour that stayed in one hotel, with day-trips out of Treviso. Although I liked all of the daily itineraries, the one I enjoyed the most was our trip to the town of Asolo and the vineyard where we sampled prosecco and made our own pasta.
A very nice tour, the perfect blend of sightseeing in lovely towns, walking in beautiful Tuscan countryside, and local food and drink. Enough walking to feel you've earned the wine tasting, but not too much to make it feel like a slog. Our guide Augusto was excellent too. Logistically perfect too, as the start and end point were really near the airports and railway stations, while the drives between towns were never too long either. If you want to see Pisa, arrive early on the 1st day or the day before. It's also worth staying on in Florence afterwards; I stayed on for another night and did a day trip to Lucca, which isn't on the tour, but highly recommended.
