Italy Trip Deals Reviews
Honest insights from past guests on our Travel deals Italy tours.
Everything was well planned & well executed. We saw so much and learned more than we ever would have on our own. Our guide and driver were amazing! They took care of everything so we could truly enjoy our vacation. I’m glad I chose Insight for our tour. The hotels were nice, the bus was very comfortable, most restaurants were very good, and we had a smaller group. We did add 2 days at the end of our tour to stay in Rome to see more (on our own), and I’m really glad we did. We walked everywhere (safely), and saw so much! You don’t go inside the colosseum or pantheon on the tour, so if that’s a big item on your list be sure to arrive early or stay after the tour to enjoy that. I also highly recommend having an idea of what else you’d like to see in an area because we did have enough free time a few times to explore and see many things on our own, then meet up with the group and get back on the bus. Don’t skip going inside the churches - they’re so beautiful and many are free! Comfortable shoes are a must! We used a card to pay for almost everything everywhere we went, but you do need some cash & coins.
Our hiking guide, Enrico, was excellent! We truly felt like he cared about us and tried to cater each day to all of our desires. He was energetic and positive, knowledgeable and communicated well. Our hotel was also excellent! They, too, seemed to really care about all of us and wanted to meet our needs. The food was very good and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We loved San Lazarro where the hotel was located. It was a quiet and peaceful town. And, I must add that the bus drivers were excellent! Wow, how could they do that driving on the very narrow roads. They had excellent control of their large buses in very tight situations.
A very nice tour, the perfect blend of sightseeing in lovely towns, walking in beautiful Tuscan countryside, and local food and drink. Enough walking to feel you've earned the wine tasting, but not too much to make it feel like a slog. Our guide Augusto was excellent too. Logistically perfect too, as the start and end point were really near the airports and railway stations, while the drives between towns were never too long either. If you want to see Pisa, arrive early on the 1st day or the day before. It's also worth staying on in Florence afterwards; I stayed on for another night and did a day trip to Lucca, which isn't on the tour, but highly recommended.
I enjoyed seeing so much of Italy on one trip. I wanted to experience the culture and sights that you can't get from a cruise visiting ports of call and this itenerary really fulfilled my expectations! Touring the landscape, eating in varied settings and staying in the hotels all gave real depth to my experience of Italy. The driver and tour director were top notch as was the always clean coach!
It was a wonderful trip, our tour director Mirena was a very kind soul taking care and looking after all 37 passengers. A couple of noteworthy items about this tour is that some of the towns is Tuscany are very hilly, kind of like San Francisco and you have back to back days of walking these hills, approximately 16,000 steps daily, so proper footwear is a must. The hotels are just ok. They are European hotels and different from the states so you will have to remember that when going to the boutique hotels. Don't expect state of the art anything, and you won't be disappointed. The Tuscany experiences we loved, the small quaint towns, narrow streets that were so pretty and quaint and the charm of the Italian villages made this trip a dream. If you want to see major attractions in Rome, buy tickets before you go as the prices can get very expensive as you get closer to your dates.
The Country Roads of Southern Italy and Sicily was our third tour with Insight Vacations. Once again we were not disappointed. The itinerary allowed for the group to experience the major sites in Southern Italy as well as Sicily. The tour guide, Guissepe. did an outstanding job communicating with the group and was always available to help provide information. The group dynamics were outstanding and everyone got along very well. There was a healthy balance of walking, sightseeing, and time on the bus. The choice of hotels were very good and we were satisfied with the selection except for the Isabella Hotel. We did not feel that the Isabella Hotel lived up to a four star rating. It truly lacked a customer service culture. By the way I want to also give a shout out to Simone, the bus driver. He did an amazing job navigating some of those challenging roads. Overall, a very memorable tour with excellent leaders and group. We have already been in touch with a few individuals from the tour.
