We loved this tour with Terri Marshall. Our only regret is that there was so much to see and do that we were exhausted with very little time in any of the locations. It was an aggressive itinerary but we knew that when we booked. However, as Terri had indicated to our group, the tour was a great opportunity to see so much and then to decide where guests may want to return to for a longer stay. Terri is an absolute gem of a person and an expert at her job!

This was a full itinerary, requiring 4-5 miles of walking on uneven terrain and on many days. For those who have mobility problems, such as my husband, it would have been good for us to be forewarned. On several days, I would take the tour without him, take lots of pictures, so he could see what he missed because he just wasn’t able to keep up. The sights we saw — the Colosseum, Pompeii, the churches, wineries, the leaning Tower of Pisa and many, many more — were all fascinating especially because the local guides were so knowledgeable.

A magical tour with an inspirational guide.

A magical two weeks. Very well organised and a comprehensive itinerary offering a good understanding of the fascinating present day culture and the history of the island. Enough free time to explore whatever we wished – or just to relax and enjoy watching the Sicilian world go by. Our tour leader Tiziano was the key to the success of the Grand Tour, communicating his knowledge of Sicily with an infectious passion.

The itinerary was great we felt like we saw a lot of Italy and made the best if our time . Our tour guide, Anna Taggert, was great at pivoting activities based on rainy days etc.

The itinerary is very good. It does give an idea of how Italy really is, the different cities, food, people and history. Also, the landscape changes. The only thing that was missing is the visit to St Peter's Basilica, it was a huge disappointment. I love art and history. When we were in Venice I would prefer to be able to go inside the St Mark's Cathedral than sitting in the cafe on the St Mark's Piazzeta watching the Palace (and the crowd) in front. From the St Mark's Basilica's second floor the view is amazing and that was missing due time schedule, I understand completely. Other than that, everything was lovely, the group, organization, comfortable bus, tour director Lorena, driver Simone very skilled . I highly recommend this amazing tour, is my second time in Italy and the tour brought back good memories from my previous trip many years ago.

This was my fourth trip with Explore Worldwide, but my first walking tour. I wanted to see whether I’d actually enjoy a walking holiday, as I love walking but had never done it consistently day after day. Needless to say, I absolutely loved it — and I’m already browsing trips for next year! I went back and forth about booking the agriturismo or the hotel, and I’m so glad I chose the agriturismo. It was such a lovely place to stay. The food was amazing, I loved relaxing on the sun terrace, and although the rooms were simple, they were perfectly adequate. My only small niggle was that the beds were a little firm — but after a day’s walking, you’ll still sleep very well! The walks were a bit more challenging than I expected. At first, I thought they might not be enough, especially as the first couple are under three miles, but they involve a lot of uphill and downhill sections. There are plenty of stairs on this trip! In the end, though, it worked perfectly, because by the time you reach the two bigger walks towards the end, your legs have adapted. And what walks they are — the scenery is absolutely stunning. At times it’s hard to watch where you’re putting your feet because the coastline is so breathtaking! There are also opportunities to swim at the end of three of the walks, which is definitely worth taking advantage of. And what’s a tour without a good guide? We were lucky to have Gennaro, who kept everything running smoothly and made sure the whole group stayed on track throughout the trip. The experience was topped off by a fantastic group of people — I honestly couldn’t have asked for better company. So yes, I’d absolutely recommend this trip. I can completely see why it’s a bestseller!
