Honest insights from past guests on our India tours

A great experience with stunning scenery at the tea plantations and from the houseboat. The food was amazing. Abhi our guide really made the trip though and was the most attentive and hard working Explore guide I have had (this was Explore trip 36). He was there at every meal, helping with orders and his love of his job and country were obvious. Thanks Abhi - you were outstanding. The hotels were of a very good standard although hot water was not available at the homestay or on the boat (although the boat was very comfortable). It is advisable to have a smaller bag for the boat as it is difficult to move large bags onto or off the boats. Avoid Air India - my flight was cancelled on the day out meaning I missed the first day of the tour, there were also further delays both en route and on return.... Overall though a wonderful experience with a lovely group of fellow travellers. Highly recommended. Do take an umbrella!

We were lucky to have a virtually private tour with an excellent guide and brilliant driver plus beautiful accommodation. Very interesting tour experiences too with such a knowledgeable guide.

Best trip ever, fantastic guide who made the trip all the more enjoyable with his knowledge of his country and its history. Raj went above and beyond to make the trip safe, fun and intresting. And our driver Sanjay also worked tirelessly to ensure we arrived at each destination on time, safe and sound. Both gentlemen worked so hard to ensure we all had a great time. Grest time, great people, fantastic memories.

This was a very interesting and varied tour which coivered a lot of ground in two short weeks. Our Guide, Sanjeev was a great tour leader, who dealt with any issues quickly and efficiently throughout the trip. For me, the main highlight was the Ranthanbore National Park which as an absolute must for any lovers of wildlife

This tour was a wonderful combination of culture, nature, and calming moments on the water. The regional cuisine was excellent. Our trip advisor was attentive and conversational, entertaining all questions with knowledge and patience. It was my first solo tour as an elder tourist and the value and length was a good experience to get my feet wet. The region and people were great and the facilities and transportation were excellent.

Sandra S. | Traveled in October

It was a very full on itinerary, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately due to the heavy traffic we spent a lot of time on the bus. Our tour guide reminded us that this is India, became known as TII. My highlight was definitely the Taj Mahal, however every city we visited had a highlight. Our tour guide was very helpful, professional and diplomatic. A smile on his face at all times. Can thoroughly recommend.

Optimal duration to explore India

To truly experience India's rich culture and diverse landscapes, a two-week trip is recommended. Packing essentials for a trip to India

When traveling to India, pack lightweight, loose-fitting clothing suitable for varying temperatures. A comfortable pair of walking shoes is essential for city tours and temple visits. Include a light jacket or rainwear for cooler evenings and unexpected rain. A scarf or shawl is useful for sun protection and covering up when visiting religious sites. Don't forget sunscreen, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

Sustainable travel practices when visiting India

To minimize your environmental impact in India, consider carbon-offsetting your flights and supporting local environmental charities. Choose travel partners that offer carbon offsetting, such as Bookmundi. Engaging in responsible tourism ensures a positive experience for both travelers and host communities.
