My concerns are detailed below, categorized by area:
1. Inconsistent Accommodation Standards
The lodging provided was highly inconsistent and, in several instances, fell significantly short of a true luxury experience:
Met Standard: The Leela Palace was an exception and truly reflected the LG standard.
Acceptable: Taj Agra was adequate ("OK").
Below Standard: Bookmark Resort Ranthambhore was disappointing, ranking as a 3.5-star at best, and did not align with the luxury branding. The Hyatt Regency felt like an entry-level 5-star property, not a luxury-standard accommodation.
2. Substandard Transportation
A critical component of the trip failed dramatically:
The 2.5-hour train journey was unacceptable. The conditions were described as run down and bad, severely detracting from the overall experience and directly conflicting with the image of luxury travel. For a Luxury Gold itinerary, this mode of transport must be either upgraded or replaced.
3. Dining Experience Lacks Variety and Venue
While the food quality was good, the dining arrangements lacked the variety and external experiences expected:
Variety: The cuisine was predominantly Indian food throughout the entire trip. Future itineraries should incorporate a wider variety of dining options to cater to diverse palettes.
Venues: Too many meals were arranged at the hotels themselves. We suggest curating more dining experiences at high-quality, local, and signature independent restaurants to enhance the cultural experience.
4. Excessive Shopping Stops
While appreciating the intent to understand local crafts (handicraft intricacies), the number of subsequent shopping stops was excessive and felt disruptive. The itinerary included:
- Carpets
- Gemstones
- Scarf
- Blue Pottery
- Block Printing
- Miniature Painting
- Spices/Tea
This frequency felt more like a commercial itinerary than a luxury cultural tour. These should be streamlined and optional.
5. Clarity on Optional Experiences ("4 Options")
We require clarification on the execution of optional/alternative experiences (the mentioned "4 options"):
Execution: Is the group required to collectively agree on one option, or does Luxury Gold coordinate separate arrangements for members who choose different options? This needs to be clearly communicated upfront.
We urge Luxury Gold to seriously review this feedback to ensure that future tours consistently deliver the premium, curated experiences that the brand promises.

We are very disappointed with this trip due to the hotels confirmed to us (at Ranthambhore and Jaipur) were changed last minute. This has ruined the entire excitement as accommodation is what we have been looking forward to in this trip. To make things worse, the replacement hotel is no where close to the original names that we were told. They are certainly not within the Luxury Gold standard and certainly not worth the premium that we are paying for.
The small coach that we were travelling throughout the journey was not comfortable for me, as I was seated on the single seat row at the left of the vehicle and exposed to sun almost all the time. There is no curtain and the glass screen is not tinted. The seat rotation is not practiced as there is only 8 of us, single traveler like me will always end up in the same row with single seats as the coach interior design is 1 + 2 per row.
The train ride from Bharatpur to Ranthambore was almost disastrous and should not be included in this itinerary at all!
We are seriously considering whether we should continue to travel with LG/Insight/Trafalgar in future if this is what we get. We did a trip to United Kingdom last year under Insight and that was another big flop.

Firstly, I was NOT met at the airport on day 1 by the Luxury Gold driver for transfer to Leela Palace. I had submitted my arrival flight details as requested weeks before start of tour. Local people helped me contact the Luxury Gold office before a local taxi was found to transfer me hours after arrival.
Secondly, our group was appointed a large bus that we shared with another group on our Ranthambore tiger safaris. Only those up front had good views of the elusive tiger spottings. As a premium tour company asking premium prices, I expected a jeep carrying up to a maximum of 4 passengers for maximum viewing opportunities. I had this in Kanha, on a separate tour.

1. Hotel is poorly assigned and appointed with the exception of The Leela Palace
2. Meals are all Indian Food, mainly in the hotel. Kuality and 1135AD were good
3. Too many shopping, we have to strike a balance what is really cultural and arts versus shopping
4. Unacceptable train ride
5. 9 hours layover in Delhi upon departure
