Amazing adventure

The hiking tour of the Mount Blanc mountains and area around Chamonix was an amazing experience and adventure. We were very lucky with the weather which for the most part was lovely, but the variety of walks and views made each day a different and thrilling experience. The chalet was cosy and well looked after by our hosts Seb and Carol, who made us feel very welcome, and prepared great breakfasts and lunches to keep us going, as well as delicious cakes as a welcome treat when coming back from a hike, and very tasty and filling dinners.

Fabulous!!

Just returned from a fabulous week of walking the highlights of Mont Blanc. Great walks with our guide Adrian, wonderful food provided by Sebastian & Carolina. Stayed in Chalet Chalupa in Les Houches which was comfortable and the area was nice and quite away from Chamonix’s hustle and bustle. The walks were challenging for a level 3 however well worth it for the views. Lovely to come back from the walks mid afternoon to homemade cakes!

Awesome

What a week! The hikes were challenging at times but totally worth it as the views at the top were outstanding. The chalet was comfortable with a variety of delicious home cooked meals by Sebastian and Carolina including cake and coffee on our return. Chamonix-Mont-Blanc was a lovely experience as well, especially if you have a sweet tooth. Our guide Adrian was outstanding and he kept the pace steady to suit all of our group. His energy and enthusiasm was endless and he had us all laughing throughout the week. Loved the whole experience.

We booked a 7 day trip with U-Tracks, with the ultimate goal of summiting Gran Paradiso. We were a group of 11 work colleagues who annually take on a charity event with this being the selected even this year. I must admit the trip was spectacular. the 6 day 'approach' to gran paradiso was varied in the way of physical challenge and then scenery. our guide - max was first class. he was able to assess the group and maintained a superb pace to keep us all moving. this was the first time we had taken on something as demanding as this (the final day in particular). The last day summit of gran paradiso was physically challenging but not technically (the very final summit section becomes technical but very well managed). the whole trip was fantastic from start to finish. I would 100% recommend and use again.

Beautiful views

Just finished 1 week of hiking tour. We stayed in Chamonix in a very nice Chalet. Loved the town.Beautiful and convenient. Enjoyed taking the trains to the trailheads. The hikes for this tour is much harder than the other Level 3 hike we’ve done with Exodus. Most hikes here are 2500 feet elevations to close to 3000 feet elevations daily. Most about 7-8 miles. Some chains, ladders. But our guide Egle was great and able to give us continued support and encouragement. The views at the top was worth every sweat. It is indeed a beautiful place. We enjoyed the hikes, the company.

This is the third Camino that my wife and I have hiked a section of and it did not disappoint. We hiked from Le Puy to Conques. The scenery was beautiful and they delivered everything as promised. The accommodations were all located well, they were clean and our luggage was waiting each day. The GUIBO app worked very well, although I think that some more data around daily landmarks and items of interest could be loaded in to help with planning things such as food and water for the coming two days. Having the demi pension worked very well as restaurant choices were very limited in the small towns that we traveled through. We also thought they did a great job in breaking up the stages to manageable distances making the hiking very pleasant. This was our second trip using them. They are a class act and we look forward to using them again on future trips.

Travel Tips Hiking Tours of France

  • Plan your hiking tours in France during the Fall months to enjoy comfortable temperatures, fewer crowds on the trails, and lower prices for accommodations.
  • Book your mountain hut in advance, especially during peak hiking seasons when lodging options may fill up quickly.
  • Check the weather forecast before venturing out on a hike, especially if you are wandering in the Alpine region during Spring and Summer when the risk of sudden thunderstorms and heavy rains is particularly high.
  • Consider the risk of avalanches in late spring, especially if there is significant melting at the higher elevations, which causes the snow to drift downward.
  • Familiarize yourself with the local emergency contact number, which in France is 112.
  • Be aware of the presence of bears and other wildlife animals in natural areas, such as the Pyrenees National Park, and avoid unpleasant encounters by following designated trails and using bear canisters or bear-resistant containers to store your food.
  • Don’t forget to apply a tick repellent before going out on a hike, as they can carry the risk of Lyme disease transmission.
