He seemed to imbue visible phenomena with vitality. In his enthusiasm he encouraged the painter Paul Gauguin to join him, but within weeks they began to have violent disagreements, culminating in a quarrel in which van Gogh threatened Gauguin with a razor. It was that night, in deep remorse, Van Gogh famously cut off part of his own ear. This walk traces his footsteps through some of the places that he painted and would have known well. More specifically you will be strolling in Les Alpilles, a small massif standing out as its white peaks rise apparently sheer from the plain of the Rhône valley, its slopes covered in vineyards along with olive and almond trees. The itinerary was very well planned and gave us the opportunity to experience several beautiful countries in just one week. We especially enjoyed Amsterdam’s canals, the scenic Rhine River cruise, the breathtaking Swiss Alps and Lucerne, and the highlights of Paris. There was a nice balance between guided sightseeing and free time to explore on our own. The travel days were comfortable, and our air-conditioned coach made the longer drives enjoyable. The optional excursions were excellent and added even more to the experience, but there was never any pressure to purchase them. Although the pace was busy, we never felt rushed and came home feeling like we had seen so much of Europe in a short time. I would definitely recommend this itinerary to first-time visitors to Europe.

It was very interesting seeing all the different architecture. The cathedrals were beautiful. Sitting in Montmartre at an outdoor cafe having pizza and listening to a young man sing in the rain while other tourists danced and sang with him took it over the top.
