Rambling the Luberon has been quite pleasant. The written directions were mostly clear and the GPS-tracks functioned very well. Luggage transport as well as taxi services were always to the point. The hotels went from very good to adequate. The extra nights in Gordes and Bonnieux gave us the possibility to have a day of rest instead of make the round trips (which were not too short). The times given for the distances were quite optimistic. I (75 years old) needed considerably more time to reach the next destination.
Our walk was well planned and we felt like we saw the highlights of the area.
Lodgings were great, loved Gordes and Bonnieux. Walks were overall nice, not difficult except the day trip to the cedar forest above Bonnieux. Hotel staff in Isle and Gordes were fantastic and the host at the B&B in Bonnieux is wonderful and very helpful.
Rambling in the Luberon was a great trip although the walking was quite challenging in parts. Communication was excellent with each transfer proceeding exactly as planned. There were 3 us on this trip and we all greatly enjoyed the experience.
Great walk. All accommodation good quality. Some steep and stony sections but not too difficult even though I had a fall before walking and had a tricky knee.
Journey through the heart of Provence with Rambling in the Luberon, an 8-day self-guided walking tour ideal for experienced and senior travelers seeking a taste of French countryside life. Explore the region’s famed hilltop villages—Gordes, Bonnieux, and Saignon—each rising dramatically from the valleys below. Stroll through fields of wildflowers and poppies, discover centuries-old stone huts, and relax in charming towns like Isle sur la Sorgue, known for its antiques and canals. Highlights include the mysterious Fontaine de Vaucluse and Apt’s bustling Saturday market. The tour’s unique selling point is its immersion into the sights, scents, and rhythms of Provence, far from the typical tourist track.
