France Bicycle Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our Bicycle France tours

Julienne our lead was fantastic and catered for all levels in the group plus her is such a nice guy. huge thanks The accommodation for the first few nights was just not so warm and friendly, and felt a bit down beat generally, plus we really could have done with more fruit at breakfast table. But, the accommodation in the second place was super duper... we all loved it what a difference on every level.

This is a nice and easy cycling trip (except for the optional day which involves a large hill) cycling along the Canal and also rides into the country. Distances are not too far. Hotel/accommodation locations are good. Lots of good food available so don’t expect to lose weight

This tour was the perfect introduction to cycle touring in southern France, especially considering Erwin's sharing his extensive knowledge of European history just about every day. We've discovered we need to learn more, and then come back for similar tours in the years to come.

The itineraries were good - we enjoyed the variety of terrain: riverside, vineyards, agricultural fields, forests, and villages. The cycling was on dedicated bike paths or quiet country roads. The days went by quickly. Our hotels were charming and comfortable. Our only complaint was the unreliability of the Roadbook and how to be sure we were on the right path. As a result, a few times we ended up on busier roads which was very uncomfortable and no assistance from Roadbook to get back on track.

Our cycling tour of the Western Front through France and Belgium was great. The scenery of the countryside that we cycled through was beautiful, the towns we stayed in were enjoyable, and the World War One sites were educational (but sombre). We stayed in the upgraded hotels and enjoyed all of them - no complaints. We selected the self-guided tour and the GPS routes were easy to follow and we never had an issue with navigation. We chose the self-guided tour, which worked out well as we had spectacular weather. However, if the weather had been cold and rainy, the self-guided tour would be less enjoyable as you're on your own - no option to skip the cycling and get transported to the next town. Something to consider for future cycling trips.

What a thoroughly enjoyable 8-day bike ride. To be honest, cycling the last kilometre of the ride we found it very hard to get off, so we did an extra 5 just for fun. When doing a trip like this you need three things to go well: weather - whilst out of our control, it was perfect; navigation app - seamless and robust, great connectivity, and it took us places we would never normally find; bikes - we hired the e-bikes and they were comfortable, easy to use, and with good battery charge. Those are the physical things; what we can't put into words are the sights and the smells of Provence in spring. Suffice to say, every kilometre was a joy to behold. We're already planning next year's ride.
