Loved this place

Loved this place, especially the amazing French food we had for lunch in such pretty spots. This was our 6th cycling trip with Exodus, the local tour guides have all been awesome, very helpful and knowledgeable.

Our trip was very well organized and the routes were clear and easy to follow using the app. All the accommodations were good and our luggage was always where we needed it to be. We loved the scenery and were able to visit many chateaus and other fascinating sights as we rode through the Loire Valley.

Everything was perfectly arranged

Everything was perfectly arranged during our holiday, the tour guide Yannis Brousset was excellent and took care of all the arrangements during our holiday, so we were thoroughly able to relax and enjoy the beautiful areas we visited with Yannis providing with just the right amount of detail at the numerous interest spots we stopped at. The various events organised were brilliant.

Cycle routes were interesting

Had a great time over the six days through Brittany and Normandy. Yannis made the trip enjoyable, relaxed, well organised and interesting. It was run at a good pace, nothing felt to long or to short, was plenty to take in and see. Cycle routes were interesting and kept us off a lot of roads where possible. Food stops and restaurants that Yannis took us too were all lovely with plenty of options to try. The trip to the cidre distillery was a nice stop to break up some of the heavier history stops. We covered a good amount of history, was just the right amount. Hotels were all well located, bathrooms were a little odd in some as would have been nice to have a shower after long rides, but had to make do with baths in a few. Bikes were easy to ride and adjust where needed. Overall would be more than happy to travel with Exodus on another cycle trip, hoping more locations in France become available as guided trips as prefer these over self guided options.

  • Take in the very best of Southern France by cycling the Luberon and admiring the olive groves, vineyards, and aromatic lavender fields.
  • Explore the beauty of Corsica and its diverse terrain including deserts, coastal roads, forests, and mountains. Bike tours of France don’t just have to take place on the mainland!
  • Cycle the western front, from Amiens to Bruges in Belgium. Perfect for history buffs, this route passes through the stunning French countryside and is rife with World War I history.
  • Discover the legends of the Cathars by embarking on a cycling tour across the Canal du Midi, where you’ll make stops at the city of Carcassonne and Avignonet on your way from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic.
  • Challenge yourself with a hill climb up Col de Tourmalet, one of the most demanding routes on the Tour de France! Those who make it to the top are rewarded with unparalleled views across the Pyrenees and beyond.

Travel Tips of France Bike Tours

  • Give your bike a thorough service before setting off on a bike tour of France. This will ensure it is in top condition and hopefully prevent any punctures or breakdowns. Don’t forget to carry a repair kit just in case!
  • Check with your airline about the logistics of taking your bike if you are bringing your own on a France bike tour. You may also want to insure it for the trip.
  • Using an e-bike can help cyclists keep up on more intensive bike tours, especially those going through hilly and mountainous regions such as the Massif Central and the French Alps.
  • Make sure to rest up and enjoy the amazing foods at the hotels where you end up on each leg of your France bike tour. Not only can you enjoy the culinary delights of each region but you’ll be well prepared for the journey ahead.
  • Book your French cycling tour between the months of April and October for the best weather, but try to avoid traveling in the tourist high season between mid-July and mid-August to avoid the crowds.
  • Pay attention to the weather forecast before you go to be able to pack appropriately. The last thing you’ll want is to be soaking wet on your bike because you left your rain jacket at home!
