Dordogne's Hidden Treasures on Foot - 10 Days

Walking in the Dordogne valley and surrounding hills. You can choose from two walking tours in the Dordogne region: a 7-night/8 day tour (trip code JD8) and a 9-night/10 day tour. Much of the route is common to both. The 10 day walking tour is a circuit of approx. 120km in the area of the Upper Dordogne Valley. Castles, stone-built medieval villages, ruins and caves lend daily interest to the circuit. 'Une surprise a chaque pas'. The individual, family-run hotels offer the sort of cooking that people come to France for, and several have noted chefs. This is the land of truffles, foie gras, magret de canard and rich dark wines. This is a region of France that is largely away from normal tourist haunts in the Departments of Correze and Lot. The scenery is varied, taking in the limestone plateaux or Causses and then later wooded hills, which slope steeply down to the Dordogne at the delightful former river port of Beaulieu. 9 plus villages on this Dordogne walking holiday are on the unofficial but prestigious list of the '161 most beautiful villages in France' (Les Plus Beaux Villages de France). The route passes a multitude of churches and monasteries, resembling a travelling museum of Romanesque art. Walking from Aire sur l'Adour offers an insight into the contrasting Béarn and Basque regions of France which have a unique culture, language and cuisine. The landscape is inspiring as you walk between woods and open fields, past a multitude of chapels and historic sights and take time to absorb the history of the villages passed, once resting points for thousands of pilgrims during the Middle Ages. Arriving into St Jean Pied de Port through the Porte Saint-Jacques is a highlight and a rewarding end to the journey along the Via Podensis.

Beautiful destinations each day. I loved the group lunches and dinners and out tour leader and driver organised a lunch in a place called Domme with spectacular views. A visit to a winery with wine cellars miles underground that was used to mine the limestone as well mind blowing

I recently finished 10days circuit of Mont Blanc. I had the best time of my life. We had fantastic company of the best guide Julien and the mule. I loved the challenge of each day and I would highly recommend doing 10 days. Accommodations were best and as a solo traveler I did not have any issues sharing dormitories. It was comfortable with best views. This was my birthday gift from my husband and the best so far. All members from the company were highly supportive and prompt at answering any questions by both emails and on calls. I did not have any trouble from very first payment for booking to the entire journey and back home safe and sound. Our group became besties now and we may plan more trips together. I just want to say thank you to UTracks for making the entire experience very special and memorable.

Had an amazing time!! I did every excursion and while tiring it was totally worth it. I would have liked a little more free time in Montmartre to see Sacre Coeur and the town. I had to choose and went to Sacre Coeur. Our tour guide was the best. She was so friendly and helpful and just a bundle of energy. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the highlights of London and Paris.
