ANNAPURNA AND TILICHO LAKE!

My wife and I completed the Annapurna Circuit plus Tilicho Lake guided by Ramesh and portered by Ramo and the experience was perfect. Ramesh is truly the best guide in the world. Not only is he an encyclopedia and loved sharing information with us while trekking, he was smart, strategic, and patient all throughout the trip. He actively used his experience to guide us on the trek, making changes that would better our chances of crossing the pass and visiting Tilicho lake in the best way possible, which I appreciated. Ramesh is also very friendly and warm, which truly helped, as our experience literally felt like a perfect intertwine between a guided tour and a trek, which we greatly appreciated. To be able to do this at altitude with a variety of personalities, all while being patient must be respected. And I cannot and will not forget our porter Ramo: thank you so much for moving so quickly and efficiently (with our items on your back), better enabling us to lock in certain rooms at various tea houses to help ensure my wife and I rested comfortably throughout the trek. Thank you! Thank you Madhav, Ramesh and Ramo and we'll see each other again in a year our 2!

Manaslu Circuit

Thank You. Everything was well organized. Especially big thanks to Sherpa Ongchhu and Nabin for excellent company. They are great people, always helpful and we really enjoyed their company. Sherpa Ongchhu is professional with exceptional knowledge about climbing and trekking and if we come to Nepal we want to trek with him.

Absolutely spectacular

This was a truly amazing adventure, Bhutan is a magical place with wondrous scenery and architecture. The people are warm and welcoming and the sights and sounds of the festivals was incredible with the bright costumes, colours and music. The whole trip was well organised and our tour leader was fantastic and so knowledgeable. I knew Bhutan was going to be good but this trip exceeded my expectations, I can’t wait to return.

It was a very full on itinerary, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately due to the heavy traffic we spent a lot of time on the bus. Our tour guide reminded us that this is India, became known as TII. My highlight was definitely the Taj Mahal, however every city we visited had a highlight. Our tour guide was very helpful, professional and diplomatic. A smile on his face at all times. Can thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic trip encompassing amazing views, scenery and local food. The accommodation in the tea houses was basic and electricity random but waking up to amazing views of the mountains or going by jeep to see the rhinos in Chitwan more than made up for being without our Western creature comforts. Our Guide and local trek leaders were brilliant, and went the extra mile.

This holiday was a dream come true for me. Our guides throughout the tour were brilliant at giving information regarding a wide variety of visits. Our main guide, Santosh, was amazing from our first meeting until the taxi collecting us on the last day. His knowledge, concern, caring friendly nature and humour made the holiday....nothing was too much trouble for him. The variety on the tour was very well balanced; I would highly recommend it. The only challenge was sorting the visa; I paid on line and was charged again at tbe airport after being told the first payment was a scam! However this didn't impact on the holiday as I enjoyed every minute of it.

Best time to visit Nepal

The best time to visit Nepal is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. Spring offers mild temperatures, clear skies, and blooming rhododendrons, ideal for trekking and outdoor activities. Autumn, after the monsoon, provides crisp air and stunning mountain views, perfect for trekking in the Himalayas. During both seasons, popular treks like Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit are accessible and offer the best weather. The second-best months are the winter months (December to February), which are quieter and less crowded but can be very cold, especially in the mountains.

If you would like a seasonal breakdown, refer to our guide on the best time to visit Nepal.

Optimal duration to explore Nepal

If you’re planning to trek in Nepal, 14 days is an ideal duration, as many popular treks like the Annapurna Circuit or Everest Base Camp take that long to complete. In 14 days, you can fully immerse yourself in a trek, taking in the stunning mountain views and experiencing local culture along the way. If you prefer a mix of activities, 14 days also allows ample time to explore Kathmandu’s temples, the serene beauty of Pokhara, and a visit to Chitwan for wildlife. For a shorter trip, 7 days would be better suited for exploring Kathmandu, a quick trek like Ghorepani Poon Hill, and a visit to Pokhara or Chitwan.

Packing essentials for a trip to Nepal

Packing for Nepal depends on your activities. For trekking, essentials include sturdy hiking boots, a quality sleeping bag, layered clothing for varying temperatures, and a down jacket. In cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara, lightweight clothes and a rain jacket will suffice. A power bank, water purification tablets, and cash (ATMs are unreliable in remote areas) are useful. Don’t forget sunscreen, a headlamp, and any necessary permits for trekking.

Sustainable travel practices when visiting Nepal

To travel sustainably in Nepal, start by carbon-offsetting your flight through Qantas. If you’ve booked a tour with Bookmundi, your in-country travel will be automatically carbon-offset from start to finish. Consider donating to Renewable World, an NGO that helps Nepalese communities access renewable energy. Reduce waste by avoiding plastic bottles, carrying reusable alternatives, and properly disposing of trash. Opt for eco-friendly transport like buses instead of domestic flights to cut emissions. Supporting local businesses and choosing responsible tourism practices ensure that your visit benefits both Nepal’s environment and its people while preserving the country’s natural beauty for future travelers.
