day 1 - Join Kathmandu

On arrival in Kathmandu, you are met by a World Expeditions representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure, allowing time to rest after your journey or explore nearby streets and cafés. In the late afternoon, a pre-trek briefing is held where final arrangements are confirmed and your kit bag, sleeping bag and down or fibrefill jacket are issued. This briefing also provides an opportunity to meet your guide and fellow travellers ahead of the trek. Accommodation: Radisson Hotel

day 2 - Kathmandu or drive to Ramechap (5 hrs)

Depending on the season, today is either a free day to explore Kathmandu or a road journey to Ramechap in preparation for your flight to Lukla. If remaining in Kathmandu, you may choose to visit historic temples, markets or simply relax before the trek begins. During peak trekking seasons, flights to Lukla operate from Manthali Airport in Ramechap, requiring a drive of around five hours through rural countryside. Your leader will confirm flight logistics and timings during the pre-trek briefing.

Note: Domestic flights to and from Lukla may operate from Manthali Airport, Ramechap during spring and autumn trekking seasons (March to May and October to December). This is determined by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and is subject to change.

day 3 - Fly to Lukla, trek to Ghat (2,530m / 8,300ft, 3 hrs)

An early morning flight takes us into the mountains, with flights operating from Kathmandu (around 35 minutes) or from Manthali Airport in Ramechap (around 20 minutes), depending on the season. The approach into Lukla’s Tenzing–Hillary Airport offers spectacular views of the eastern Himalaya and marks the true beginning of our Everest journey. After meeting our trekking crew, we begin walking downhill along the Dudh Kosi River, following a broad and well-defined trail through fields of potatoes and buckwheat and past small Sherpa villages. The gentle walk ends at Ghat, our first overnight camp, offering a relaxed introduction to trekking in the Khumbu.
