Appalling!!! Unfortunately I can’t give 0*. Local operations couldn’t tell the truth if their life depended on it. Go to the Himalayas and experience alpine beauty. First 4 nights staying in tents in a paddock in full sun, temperatures 30+, nowhere to shelter, incessant dog barking during the nights, cook was the only good thing. Nepal management cancelled the trek and 2 days later I have received no notice and no communication of the change to arrangements ie everything is now my cost… Accom, food, airport transfers etc. I’m still finding things I’m now responsible for. Zero communication. Even told it was my fault for organising flights the day after the scheduled finish date!! DO NOT USE THIS TRAVEL SPECIALIST in Nepal. Their head office has no empathy. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

You will be met at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport arrivals gate by a World Expeditions representative and transferred to the Radisson Hotel in a private vehicle. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to relax after your journey or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.
A pre-trek briefing will be held at approximately 4:30–5:00 pm, where your guide will outline the journey ahead and organise the distribution of your trekking kit including your kit bag, sleeping bag and down or fibrefill jacket.
This evening we gather for a welcome group dinner, providing a great opportunity to meet your fellow travellers before the adventure begins.

EBC is one of the big bucket list treks and going with World Expeditions pretty much guarantees a great experience. World Expeditions have been running treks in Nepal for around 50 years and it shows with every aspect of the tour being refined to the point that it runs smoothly and without issues. Our guide Roy was highly experienced having taken this trek over 100 times and his local knowledge, contacts and guidance ensured everything ran well. The end result was that all 15 of us made it to base camp and back again without any serious issues, something that doesn't often happen with other tour companies. World Expeditions' tent based 'Eco Camps' with their own kitchen and dining room are a great alternative to tea house accommodation every night, adding a more adventurous feel to the trek while also guaranteeing a bed every night and minimising the risk of food poisoning from random kitchens - a common problem in the Himalayas due to the lack of reliable refrigeration and inconsistent food handling. The beds are comfortable and the supplied sleeping bags, sleeping bag liners and blankets at the higher elevations were more than enough to ensure a warm night's sleep. The potential for altitude sickness is also very real unless properly managed, and the slow and steady pace of the World Expeditions tour along with Roy's constant reminders of when and how much Diamox to take and his monitoring of symptoms resulted in none of our group experiencing altitude sickness and needing to turn back. The distance walked each day on the way up was easily achieved at a slow and steady pace and we usually arrived at camp either in time for lunch or by mid-afternoon with time to relax or explore the local area. Roy was supported by a very professional and hardworking team of guides, porters and cooks who worked overtime to make sure we had a great experience. Shout out to Anil and Lok for getting up at 4:00am to guide us up to Kala Patthar in minus 15 degrees temps. Despite limited cooking facilities and access to a small range of ingredients, the cooks do a great job of preparing 3 meals a day with enough variety to keep it interesting. If you're looking for a tour where everything is pretty much taken care of for you and you have the highest possibility of a successful trip, then World Expeditions is the way to go. Highly recommended.
