Vietnam has a complex history that shapes much of its modern life. We recommend visiting the cultural religious and historic sites of Ho Chi Minh City, including a tour of the Củ Chi tunnels leftover from the Vietnam War. Head North for a boat cruise on Ha Long Bay, or visit the capital city of Hanoi to discover its temples, museums and delicious street food.

Sapa, a mist-shrouded town in Lào Cai province, is one of Vietnam’s most astonishing destinations. Resting at the foot of the country’s highest mountain, the town overlooks a vast green valley covered in maze-like rice terraces. Trekking and hiking here are popular activities, and the landscape is crisscrossed by a network of trails. A highlight of any Sapa tour is encountering local people who inhabit nearby villages.

Fantastic tour discovering the country from North to South while getting in contact with history, culture and everyday life of the local people. The itinerary provides a good mix of must visits and hidden gems. Our tour leader Minh did a great job by keeping us interested and providing helpful information as well as background to better understand this beautiful country and its people. Highly recommend!

I have seen and experienced so many wonderful places, people, food and entertainment. The holiday was packed with more than I had expected but allowed enough free time to recharge batteries. Our guide was very efficient, kind, thoughtful and helpful. He was extremely knowledgeable and funny. We were very lucky to have him. Plus, I was with a group of lovely people and enjoyed their company.

Our Explore leader, Vinh, was fabulous. He was knowledgeable and was able to judge the right of information to deliver to help us understand culture and historical events without overloading us. He was always kind and considerate towards the differing needs of the group. He had a great sense of humour and was happy to share personal experiences of his family's experiences of life in Vietnam. We left with a heavy heart but with a wealth of experiences we will treasure.

Great trip with Explore and Mr Vinh guide just was superb. I would say that the My Son trip should have been included instead of optional and, as an upgraded trip, a couple of evening meals should have been included as the choice of restaurants were great. Very varied agenda with some fun activities like cooking with a local family and locally grown produce, most splendid.

Inside Vietnam was more than I expected. The Vietnamese are a smiling, welcoming people. Our guide Diem did a wonderful job of introducing us to his country. Through his knowledge and stories I came away with a much clearer understanding of the recent history of Vietnam. My fellow Explore travellers were a joy to be with. A wonderful trip. A fantastic experience.

This isn't just a cycling trip; it's a profound cultural immersion. Our two-week journey through Vietnam and Cambodia redefined what "active travel" means, trading tourist buses and crowds for quiet backroads and genuine human connection. If you're looking to be active paired with deep insight into Southeast Asian life, look no further. The adventure began in Vietnam, plunging us straight into the vibrant pulse of the Mekong Delta. Cycling alongside endless rice paddies and crossing tributaries by ferry, we witnessed the beautiful chaos of Vietnamese life. The smells of fresh cooking, the vibrant market colors, and the constant, friendly waves from locals made every kilometer fly by. The flat, easy terrain of the Mekong provided a perfect route, allowing us to focus entirely on the scenery. Crossing into Cambodia brought a subtle but powerful shift. The landscape grew gentler, and the atmosphere felt more tranquil. It was here, away from the city centers and main highways, that the true magic of the tour unfolded. Our routes took us down dirt roads and pathways, directly into the heart of rural communities. This direct access was the defining feature of the tour, fostering moments of authentic interaction that simply can't be replicated. It was during these stretches that the cycling felt less like tourism and more like belonging. As I recall those moments, a particular feeling stands out: "I felt like we were part of the community cycling alongside children going and coming from school, residents greeting us as we cycled by and witnessing farmers tending their rice paddies." This encapsulates the entire experience—it was a privilege to be a quiet observer, often pausing just to watch life happen, earning smiles and nods as we passed. The final days exploring the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat by bicycle provided a stunning historical and visual climax. Pedaling through the jungle trails to find hidden temples felt like we were uncovering secrets of an ancient world, a truly rewarding feeling after days of hard work. From the excellent, knowledgeable local guides who seamlessly handled all logistics to the perfectly curated routes, every detail was managed flawlessly. This tour is highly recommended for anyone who wants their travel to be more than just sightseeing—it's for those who want to feel the heartbeat of a place. It’s an unforgettable journey that will leave you physically rejuvenated and culturally enriched.
