day 1Join trip Ho Chi Minh City and afternoon orientation walk
Our tour starts today in the vibrant heart of Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City, still affectionately known as Saigon. As the largest city in the country, Ho Chi Minh pulses with energy, ancient pagodas and bustling street markets collide with sleek skyscrapers and trendy cafés. It's a city of contrasts, where tradition meets innovation and every corner tells a new story of Vietnam's bold, entrepreneurial spirit.
Our tour leader plans to meet you in the hotel reception at 5pm for a welcome meeting, followed by a walking tour. The tour will introduce us to some of the highlights of the city, including the Opera House, Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame Cathedral and the impressive French-style GPO building.
If you'd like an airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), which is a 30-minute drive from our hotel depending on traffic.
Please note that if you want to join the orientation walk this afternoon, you'll need to arrive at the hotel by 5pm. If you're booking your own flights, we recommend giving yourself 30 minutes to one hour to clear the airport. Therefore, the latest your flight can arrive is 2pm. If you miss the welcome meeting, your tour leader will leave a note at the front desk to let you know of any essential information.
If you arrive earlier in the day, you may wish to explore the Presidential Palace, visit the War Remnants Museum, or simply wander the vibrant streets of the city.

Fabulous trip. The cycling was very leisurely giving us the time to really enjoy our surroundings. All of the support staff were great, so helpful ensuring that our trip ran very smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble. The Vietnamese and Cambodians were all so friendly and really pleased to see us!!
I undertook the trip despite not having been on my bike for 2 years. I had intended to do some preparation but the winter weather was so awful it never happened. Despite this I managed the cycling with no issues - it was advertised as easy. The itinerary was excellent although I would have liked a bit more exposure to local cuisine. Granted we had the choice on the nights off but we were ofter guided to more popular 'tourist' restaurants. This is not a criticism as it would likely suit many groups. I visited the museum in Siam Reap at the end of the trip but wished that I had done this before visiting the temples as I feel would have had a better understanding of the history. Something that I could have got by reading more myself before the trip. A learning curve for me.
Excellent holiday. Our tour guide, Bao, could not have been more helpful. Very knowledgeable and personable. Some lovely cycling routes and the stops to view local artisans were really interesting. Great fruit stops too!
The tour leader went above and beyond to make this holiday exceptional. When a problem arose, which is inevitable over 10 days of activities, a solution was found, whatever the problem. The personal attention given to everyone in the group made the entire holiday great.
The ride was full of many wonderful adventures! Come prepared to be active! We had a lovely group of 10 men ans women, a mix of e-bikes and manual bike riders. Although a leisurely ride, be prepared to be active whether touring on foot, on bike or boat! It was lovely to experience the beauty of both Vietnam and Cambodia, and the kindness of the locals. Our tour guides and support crew were top notch!
