Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Vietnam by joining one of our cultural tours in this beautiful country. From the Temple of Literature to Sapa to the Old Quarter of Hanoi, there is so much to explore and learn on a cultural trip to Vietnam. Visit the Imperial City in Hue and then the War Remnants Museum in Hanoi. Both these places have huge cultural significance to modern-day Vietnam—one showing the older, imperial past of Vietnam and the other dealing with the darker war-torn period. A Vietnam culture trip can easily be combined with one of our Vietnam walking tours, where you can explore the historical and cultural landmarks, vibrant streets and marketplaces. You can wander around from the Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City, which soldiers used in the war to get around in secret. You can rent a scooter or a motorbike in Hanoi and zip through the traffic to visit the local sites and attractions with relative ease. Scroll down to find our favorite cultural tours in Vietnam.

Vietnam Local culture Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our Local culture Vietnam tours

The tour director *personal details removed by Feefo* was excellent, so knowledgable about history as well as being very personable and thoughtful. Highlights for us include historic Hoi An, Lantern making in Hoi An, Halong Bay the Mekong Delta and the Red Bridge Cooking school. We also really appreciated the Thanh Dong Organic Village and the silk grafting at Van **** Silk Village. Terrific of Trafalgar to support people with disabilities. The farewell dinner at the home of the former American Ambassador was also special.

Excellent

I would start ranting for hours. This trip was truly meaningful as it had so many layers. From enjoying the beach to learning about the sad history and reality of Cambodian "politics", it was a rollercoaster of emotions. I also think that it was the mix of our group combined with our best CEO Dolla, that made the trip so fruitful.

Excellent

I was nervous going into the tour as it was my first group trip but I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Dolla was incredible and really brought the group together! I feel like I have memories and friends to last a lifetime!

Great introduction to Vietnam

A fantastic way to experience the country’s highlights in just 10 days. We loved the mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. Some days were a bit packed, but overall, it was a wonderful trip.

This trip exceeded our expectations

This trip exceeded our expectations with its interesting itinerary, amazing mix of cultural landmarks, breathtaking landscapes, and relaxing beach time. The tour guides were insightful and made each stop even more memorable, especially during the Sapa trek. A special thanks to Long Pham, who helped coordinate everything so seamlessly. He kept track of our journey, ensured we were well taken care of, and made sure we had all the support we needed throughout the trip. I highly recommend this experience to anyone planning to explore Asia!

The tour was made memorable because of John, the tour guide. There was not just one memorable experience. I will not forget the hero rats in Cambodia, the junk boat at HaLong Bay,, the prison in Hanoi, Angkor Wat, Saigon on a Vespa, the basket boats,, the entire trip was incredibly memorable..

Culture Trips in Vietnam

Highlights of Cultural Trip in Vietnam

  • Cruise down the ancient Perfume River during your trip to the Imperial City in Hue. Along the way, you can hear traditional Hue songs, see the sunset, and get great views of Imperial-era architecture.
  • Soak up traditional architecture, filled with columns, wraparound porches, and opulent tiling, and find movie magic at the Binh Thuy Ancient House in the Mekong Delta. This house has been used in dozens of movies and is a beautiful example of traditional French-Chinese-Vietnamese architecture.
  • Meet locals and grab souvenirs at the Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City. Popular traditional and culturally significant items include hand-woven and painted silk scarves, which have poetic imagery of popular Vietnamese cultural stories on them!
  • Visit the pagodas of the Marble Mountains, including the most famous, the Tam Thai Pagoda. Many temples and pagodas in Vietnam were built by Mahayana Buddhists and Nguyen Dynasty Kings.
  • Enjoy a cultural sightseeing tour of Hanoi. This bustling metropolis has attractions, including the One Pillar Pagoda and the illustrious Presidential Palace!

Travel Tips for Vietnam Culture Tours

  • Be respectful of the local customs. As many of the cultural trips in Vietnam will include religious places like temples or pagodas, make sure you are dressed modestly.
  • Do not plan your visit to cultural sites during public holidays, as many of them are closed.
  • Tip your guides for their services during your Vietnam culture tour.
  • Keep an eye on the traffic. If you are on a walking cultural tour in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, remember that the traffic and bikes are a law unto themselves. Pay close attention to your guide when crossing the streets.
  • Dive into the street food scene during your Vietnam trip, as food is a huge part of the country’s culture.
