Explored the highlights in each location with a few added highlights
This was our first trip to France and Spain and it was a wonderful trip. our Tour Director was wonderful as well. Just wish there was a bit more free time at some of these bigger cities. The hotels could be a tiny bit better more centralized. Some of the Buffet breakfast were not good at all.
A little bit of more free time at locations
It was a very organised holiday. Everything was planned well.
As it was my first time in France, I wouldn't change the itinerary.
This was our 2nd Trafalgar trip., so we knew what to expect (early morning departure's, lots of time in the coach, etc.) Overall, we were very pleased and really enjoyed our experience. a few notes for those of you considering this vacation: the good: -great travel advisor (), very sweet, attentive, very knowledgeable -coach was comfortable. visited many small towns off the beaten path (Avignon, Carcassonne, etc.) -good, diverse mix of people/families on our vacation. all very friendly. -bad traffic situation in Paris // so instead of waiting for our coach, our travel advisor set us up with a taxi (saved us over an hour of wait time) the bad: -some of the included dinners limit you to 2 drinks (it was not like this on our Italy trip 2 years ago) - our 2 night stay in Nice // our hotel room's AC was not working very well (luckily the front desk provided us a fan) -long delay getting checked into the hotel in Barcelona (probably b/c we had just entered that country from France) -tour did not include the Louvre, spent only 10-15 minutes near the Eiffel tower for a picture, only toured the exterior of La Sagrada Familia (we did Louvre on our own and skipped the Cabaret dinner) -spent a lot of time driving between cities (bring a good book!)
Poor for a first class tour
We really enjoyed it. The places we saw we beautiful and our tour guide was wonderful. (And our driver was great too) I also thought the local guides were great. Food was amazing.
Saw many amazing sites in a jam-packed week; however barely enough time for showers, lunch, and the only shopping was to grab the odd souvenier in tourist jammed crowded stops! Hotels in poor out-of-the way locations, so if you want to see anything other than your hotel you had to pay for taxis, or for the extra add-on excursions which adds another few hundred dollars $$$ to the trip.- and they really pressure you on those; optional?? not really.!? Paris- could have at least stopped at Eiffel tower for a photo, not just point it out in a drive by. Lots of time on the bus, (was actually a nice break from tripping over cobblestones, fast grueling walks up hills and thru winding streets, with a box and earphones hanging around your neck to hear the guide, as they tell you to watch for pick-pockets, as you are trying to see the sights, avoid running into other tourists, and not trip over sidewalk curbs, yeahh such fun!! ); then the local tour guides would then disappear and tell you to have an hour free time and then find your own way back to the bus. If not paying close attention you could easily get lost. Give a map! or better yet have guides take them back. Worst was the Paris airport- total nightmare trying to navigate thru. The reason I do these tours as years ago they met you once thru customs with a big 'TRAFALGAR' sign then drove you directly to your hotel- now they give you a meeting place, with poor instructions, and have to find your own way, which when traveling solo and being a senior, as well as being tired after an overnite flight, and the language barrier was a nightmare of 2 hours!! and i was not the only one.. please go back to the way it used to be...!! much safer for seniors and solo travellers- and about half of us were over 60years old. See lots but definately not a fun or relaxing holiday, and if you are older or in poor health don't recommend, as you are on constantly on the go from 6am until sometimes late in the evening, with a lot of fast paced walking.
Really enjoyed the trip, except we wish we had of read the explanation better so we would have known we were not going to the Eiffel Tower, Louvre museum
Our tour director was excellent and because of her I would do more TRAFALGAR tours. I loved the itinerary and the driver was exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Too many stops to just view the exterior of the sites like Chombord and Sargrada Familgla. Special tour guides and tour that were an add on were a waste of $35 I.e. Barcelona. The tour guide although knowledgable, spoke too fast and was too hard to understand. Tour was only about 20 minutes weaving in and out streets and we had no idea where we were when she left us at the end. Many on that tour left before it was completed. Having a little map would help. Got lost in Paris. Took a cab but cell phone died and could not find hotel as Marriott was not located in Paris. Room key and holder did not give address or phone number. Cab driver did not speak English and had no idea of the locatio.n as there were many Marriott’s in Paris. Had to end up calling a Trafalgar agent to find out the town we were staying in and location. I know you want to save the planet and not offer plastic water bottles but you were to offer water to fill our containers which was not available at times. This resulted in buying plastic water bottles. The meals in France were a lot of chicken. There should be more variety and choice. One evening the sole offering was fish. When the tour director was told I do not eat fish, she said we were asked at the start of the tour if there was anything we could not eat in the beginning of the trip. Fish is a little unusual to be the sole offering. Found that the hotels were far away from the city action and we felt unsafe to venture out in the evenings by ourselves
was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and highly relational.
A lot of time in the bus. Hotel locations require you to use cabs or public transportation. Tour guide was excellent.
It was a very good trip but sometimes felt as if we missed out a bit with the castles and monasteries. Only being able to see the first floor.
Loved the different cities.wish we spent more time in Paris and Arles
This itinerary covered almost all of the places I wanted to see in France. I couldn't find the right combination of places with any other tour group. Most of the accommodations were very nice and had good breakfasts, showers, hair dryers, etc. The tour director was excellent, the local specialists were great, and the coach driver was fantastic! The coach was very comfortable and the other tourists were very nice.
Our driver and travel director were extremely impressive and went above and beyond ! The hotels could have been better
The travel director was excellent. Her knowledge about everywhere we went was excellent. The driver was excellent as well was a great driver. The tour was a great path to follow
Excellent tour guide and an amazing driver.
Our tour director was fantastic, our Driver was courteous and very safe driver. very pleasant always smiling and checking on all their guests to make sure everyone is comfortable
The itinerary was good. Some of the accommodation was not suitable with the shower over a bath. Also Barcelona accommodation didn't have a box of tissues.
First time doing a tour like this and likely will never do a tour again. The travel director and driver were excellent so please don’t think they had anything g to do with this review. Our issues are that we asked for our daily itinerary way ahead of time because we wanted to book our own foodie tours or other but every single day we were up by 5:30 or 6 am!!!! We had to have our bags outside our room by 7am and on the bus by 7:45 or 8 am every single day of our vacation if you wanted to do the excursion! We wished we were told this earlier on! I would’ve loved to have a day I could sleep in and order room service and not be rushed around! Plus on the itinerary we were given “free time@ but it’s not long enough to do anything. We didn’t have enough time to shop or get lunch! It was soooo rushed every day! I will say we got to see a lot of different and beautiful places but sooo very rushed and didn’t feel like the vacation I was looking for. Next time we know better.
The itinerary was something I asked for in advance because I wanted to be able to plan out own separate excursions. Unfortunately you didn’t find out until the day before about the upcoming day. Be advised that if you choose to do excursions you will very likely be up by 5:30 or 6 am every single morning. You will need to have your bags outside of your hotel door and get breakfast by 7am and on the bus by 7:45 or 8am every single day!!!!! By day 6 or 7 you are pretty tired if this and want to sleep in and order breakfast in bed because of course this is a vacation. I will say we saw a lot of places that we wouldn’t know existed but there was a lot we didn’t have time to do because of the time constraints….shopping…we never had enough time…same for our lunches….not enough time. The foods we prepaid for were amazing!!!!
