The process from finding the tour we wanted to take to getting set up for the tour was an easy process. The other reviews we saw gave us the security of using their website to book our trip. The only item we missed which would have given a 5* was the trip did not include see the Alps up close or a train trip. Well maybe next time there may be one and we would definitely take that trip.

The cities visited on this tour were great. Our bus driver was amazing - there were some roads and turns we didn't think were doable, but Paulo always made it through the difficulty. The tour guide, Phillip, was knowledgeable, personable and had a good sense of humor. Most hotels were great, but a couple were situated farther from the old town centers than we had hoped.
Having said all that, I think Trafalgar Tours needs to rethink their pricing and inclusions strategy. Many of us were extremely disappointed to have to pay over and above our already steep tour price for excursions that should have been included. We were pretty much forced to pay for the optional tours if we wanted to see the cities by bus or in a walking tour. This was often a topic of conversation with other tour guests. In San Sebastian, if you hadn't paid for the optional city tour, you were let off the bus in the morning to fend for yourself for 6 hours on a cold, drizzly day, in a city you didn't know, without even a map or directions to the Tourist Information Office. The hotel was far away from the old town, so we couldn't even access the lobby for relief from the weather.
It is my opinion that there should be an included city bus and walking tour included in the original price for every city on the itinerary. If all I was getting was a bus trip from town to town, I could have arranged that myself for a lot less money. Trafalgar would be smarter to put the original tour price up a few hundred pounds and include these tours. Guests would not feel that they had to shell out more money in every city and with everything included, would not have been complaining about paying for optional excursions.
I am not likely to take another Trafalgar tour for the reason above, and I will share this information with anyone who asks about my tour.

We came home sick with a respiratory infection because a couple openly coughed on the bus throughout the trip. Maybe it could be addressed in the beginning traveling rules; cover or mask when coughing or sick. 😘
