Journey from Paris through the heart of France and Normandy on the Treasures of France Including Normandy tour, thoughtfully designed for experienced travelers. Over eight days, you’ll explore the D-Day Landing Beaches, marvel at the grand châteaux of the Loire Valley, and delve into centuries of French history and culture.
Highlights include exclusive welcomes at 17th-century estates and guided stories that bring the past to life. With a relaxed pace and easy physical activity, this tour is an ideal introduction to France’s iconic regions. Its unique selling point: immersive encounters with both the grandeur and the human stories behind France’s most treasured sites.
Sometimes guests get migraines or are otherwise able to participate in a Optional Experience. If a second overnight stay in a hotel is planned, a “day off” is possible. It would be a good idea to be sure lunch/dinner is available at that location should the guest not be able to attend said “Experience”. In previous trips, the Travel Director has always gone on “Experiences” with the guests, not stayed behind. We were asked, as were other guests, occasionally, where banks were, toilets, ditto as well as shops selling particular items were located.
Great itinerary! The only thing I would have done differently is not do all of the extra excursions because we ended up not having much time on the tour to explore areas on our own. Otherwise, this was my very first bus tour and it exceeded my expectations! I will definitely book my future tours with Trafalgar!
Our Tour Director and Driver were excellent. The guides were all very good. The hotels were acceptable for the price however the meals were not particularly good. As vegetarians it usually meant we got served whatever side dishes other folks got but nothing to replace the protein portion. On a couple occasions we were served pasta which gets tired after a few days. The site visits and optional tours were excellent with one exception: The visit to Mont-St-Michele was a nightmare, it was packed wall to wall with people all jammed into the narrow streets. Half of them smoking or vaping, everyone was miserable. It was impossible to move around or to enjoy the site. Unless they are going to control access in some way, I would suggest you strongly warn people what it is like inside those walls. We could not wait to get out of there. It would have been so much nicer to have a walk around the coast or tidal flats looking at the site from a distance.
The tour itself was really good and informative, but my issue is some of the hotels we stayed in. The issue I have are the showers with tubs that don't have rubber mats or mild abrasive flooring to prevent slipping, especially most people on our tour were elderly people, so imagine if either anyone would slip and fall. Finally, the last hotel we stayed in, the Renaissance La Défense Hotel Paris was in an area that had a lot of noisy during the night from people just being obnoxious, but it would have been better if the windows were sound proof instead of windows that open only slightly. Thanks.
It was wonderfully well-rounded and covered exactly what I expected from the description. Our director, was fantastic. He was so attentive and on top of everything. The accommodations and the bus were very comfortable and good quality. Breakfasts could have been a little better quality food with more choice. I was very happy we had a couple of two-night stays in hotels and not change every night. I wish it had been stated more clearly that local specialists' tips were NOT included in the gratuity pre-payment option. The trip was magnificent and I recommend it highly.
Very organized and professional. Loved it!as I mentioned not a great hotel or maybe it was our room. Mercurie(spelling?) room was too small for two people. We couldn’t even open our luggage
This was jam packed, but this is my style of travel. Some people mentioned they wanted more down time, and I wanted to see it all, which again, is my travel style. With that, our amazing tour guide, was so knowledgeable, organized and was very helpful. She was so patient and always had a smile on her face! I absolutely loved the highlighted areas of France we went to! Our bus was comfortable (with an excellent bus driver) and had good air conditioning. We stayed in a variety of hotels, one of which was an Abby built in the 1100’s. I prefer very unique lodging like this, so that was nice. Overall, this was an excellent trip I will never forget. It was well organized and I can’t say enough positive words about this whole trip. Amazing!
Please indicate level of trip. Such as: Easy walking Medium effort Difficult As a 75 year old I found the amount of walking a challenge. I loved the trip. was the best I’ve ever had on a trip. She was on top of everything. Top notch!!!! The food was just ok. The pastries were superb. The Cheteau with lunch and tour was disappointing. Drop it.
Very Good. The last couple of days it was nice to have city tours, not just churches
