day 2 - Full Day Braga and Guimarães Tour

Minho feels like a small country in itself. Its rich history, traditions, unique architecture, and cuisine make it one of the most special regions in Portugal. Two of the most important cities in Minho are Guimarães, known as the cradle of Portugal, and Braga, the city of the archbishops—both are well worth a visit.

Your journey will take you out of town into the heart of Minho, located in northern Portugal. Our first stop is Guimarães, famously known as the Cradle of Portugal. Here, you’ll learn about Afonso Henriques, the man who became the first King of Portugal. If you're a history enthusiast, this place is a must-see!

We'll begin by visiting Guimarães Castle, a medieval fortress perched on a hill, offering spectacular views. Afterward, we'll pass by the ancient S. Miguel Church, dating back to the 12th century, and the Braganza Ducal Palace. As we walk down the hill, you’ll encounter ancient houses, narrow streets, and former convents, all contributing to the medieval atmosphere that makes the city center of Guimarães a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After exploring the city, it’s time for a traditional Portuguese lunch at a local restaurant (free time).

In the afternoon, we continue our adventure by visiting Braga, one of the country’s most important religious centers. Braga is home to dozens of Catholic churches, but we’ve chosen the most significant and beautiful ones for you to visit. We'll start at the Bom Jesus Shrine, a pilgrimage site featuring a stunning Neoclassical Basilica, surrounded by a romantic park. This site was recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2019. Here, you’ll have some free time to explore the breathtaking gardens and take in the view over the city.

Before we return to Porto, we’ll stop for a short visit to Braga’s Cathedral. This landmark holds great significance for Portuguese Catholics, as it is considered the oldest cathedral in the country. The building itself is a blend of three architectural styles: Romanesque, Manueline, and Baroque.

day 3 - Full Day Douro Valley Tour

Explore one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Port Wine. You'll learn all about this region and the historical figures who helped shape it into the remarkable place you'll have the chance to discover.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation for a fantastic day in the Douro Valley, a demarcated wine region since 1756 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. The region's landscape is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, and it will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

Our first stop is Amarante, a charming town on the banks of the Tamega River, closely tied to São Gonçalo, the city's patron saint, known as a matchmaker. Here, you’ll hear about the legends and traditions, visit São Gonçalo Church, and learn the history behind the iconic bridge over the river that makes this town so unique. You’ll also have free time to explore the historical center or sample some of the local pastries.

Next, we’ll head to Pinhão, located on the banks of the Douro River, where you’ll visit one of the top wine estates in the Douro Valley. Here, you’ll learn all about the process of making Port Wine, one of the region's most famous products. You'll also enjoy a picnic lunch at the winery.
