I really enjoyed this holiday with a friendly and helpful group and an outstanding tour leader in Ester Galindo, the first to contact the group before the tour had even started. The two answers to my questions were very helpful. The one thing I liked less was a very long walk along the hard sand of a beach where the view stayed the same throughout. The hotel was very good although the views from the large balconies wasn’t special. Breakfasts were excellent -such variety and plenty. Which? magazine rates Tavira extremely highly and I have to agree. The local bakeries helped to supply something tasty for lunches.
Great trip….however it would be better to end in Lisbon and not spend a day on a coach traveling from Lisbon back to Madrid. The optional experiences made the trip extra special and wish they were included in the price.
A great cultural and historical tour! The Medina in Fes, Morocco, is a step back a thousand years! The history in Toledo, Spain, is overwhelming! Monsaraz, Portugal, is a fabulous gem! The horse farm visit and home style lunch in Southern Portugal was a delight!
Very knowledgeable and helpful travel director & great drivers. Local experts were very knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed the cities and the excursions. Probably would have skipped the night in Rabat to have two nights in Tangier. Really liked Évora and Monserrat.
I did this trip several years ago and I’m so glad I decided to do it again! The itinerary was very manageable and a good mix of inland and coastal walks. It was a great group and we enjoyed the range of restaurants available, most of them recommended by the tour leader. Tavira is a very pretty and historic town with plenty of activities available and with a good train service to other towns nearby. The hotel was of a high standard with good rooms, helpful staff and a great range for breakfast. There is a choice of two pools, indoor and outdoor, as well as a lovely bar and terrace on the top floor. The tour leader, Ester, was excellent, helpful and caring and very attentive to the various needs of group members.
I loved all of the trip except the carpet experience in Morocco. The salesmen were too pushy & made me feel uncomfortable. I know it's is part of their culture but I didn't like it & I know many others in our group didn't enjoy it either.
