I was blown away by how beautiful Porto is. The walking tour was a great intro, and the wine cellar visit in Gaia was both educational and delicious. Loved the rabelo boat ride too!
This was such a unique experience! Traveling through Portugal and Spain with Vikram Vij made it extra special—his insights into the local food scene were incredible. Every meal felt like a culinary adventure!
Absolutely amazing tour! From the seamless transfers to the incredible sights in Porto, Lisbon, and Sintra, everything was perfectly organized. Highlights included the Porto city tour, the breathtaking Douro Valley wine tour, and the fairy-tale charm of Sintra. The guides were knowledgeable, the wine tastings were fantastic, and every day felt like a new adventure. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore Portugal in style!
Portugal surprised me with how effortlessly it blends coastal charm and deep history. Our week started in Lisbon’s cobbled streets and instantly captivating pastel de nata at the Belem district. Wandering through Jeronimos Monastery was an early delight. The boat ride to the fishing village of Nazare came next, looking out at huge Atlantic swells was humbling and thrilling. Moving inland to Obidos, I felt like I’d stepped into a medieval storybook. Through its narrow lanes and hilltop castle, we then found quieter moments at the Monastery of Batalha. My favorite was Porto. Rabelo boats floating on the Douro, port tastings at dusk, and the historic Ribeira district buzzing with life. The final stop in Coimbra showcased Portugal’s intellectual heritag, its centuries-old university left me in awe. Travel days were easygoing. Our guide was energetic yet relaxed, and the small group size meant I had meaningful conversations with fellow travelers. Best value I’ve encountered for European travel. highly recommend it.
The Douro Valley wine tour was stunning. Both vineyards offered excellent wines, and the river views during the cruise were simply unreal. One of the best wine experiences I’ve had.
This tour gave a wonderful mix of culture, scenery, and wine. From Lisbon’s iconic sites to the serene Douro Valley, everything was carefully planned. I loved every part of it!
Discover Portugal Your Way
Portugal may be small in size, but it’s overflowing with big experiences. Its compact scale makes it easy to see the best of the country without spending long hours in transit, while its diversity means every day brings something new. But that also brings the challenge of where you should go and what you should see. That’s where a customized Portugal tour comes to the rescue. You choose what to include, from must-see highlights to hidden corners, and skip the rest.
Whether you want to relax on the golden beaches of the Algarve, hike dramatic coastal trails at Europe’s westernmost point, wander the historic streets of Lisbon, or sip port wine in the scenic Douro Valley, a tailor-made Portugal itinerary ensures you experience it all at your own pace and in your own style. When to go to Portugal
The best time to visit Portugal is between April and October, when the weather is warm and skies are typically sunny. Temperatures usually hover in the high teens to low twenties (Celsius), making it ideal for both sightseeing and outdoor adventures. July and August bring the hottest weather, but they also coincide with peak tourist season, when beaches and flights are at their busiest. Traveling in winter offers a quieter experience, with fewer crowds, a milder climate compared to much of Europe, and the chance to enjoy Portugal’s cultural treasures in a more tranquil setting. See month-by-month guide.
How long to stay in Portugal
Portugal is flexible enough to suit any schedule. For a quick escape, three days in Lisbon or Porto makes for the perfect city break. With seven days, you can combine the history and culture of at least three destinations. For a deeper, more relaxed journey, however, we recommend at least ten days or more. This allows time to wander Lisbon’s historic quarters, bask in the Algarve’s coastal beauty, explore rustic villages in the Alentejo, and sample wines among the terraced hills of the Douro Valley, without feeling rushed. Must-visit destinations in Portugal
A tailor-made tour of Portugal isn’t complete without some of its most iconic stops. In Lisbon, architectural gems and world-class museums blend seamlessly with a vibrant street scene. Porto’s Ribeira district is charming with riverside views, historic cellars, and colorful buildings. The fairy-tale palaces and castles of Sintra feel plucked from a storybook, while Cascais offers coastal charm in abundance. At Cabo da Roca, Europe’s westernmost point, you’ll find some of the country’s best hiking routes. Finally, the Douro Valley not only dazzles with dramatic landscapes but also invites you to taste its world-renowned wines as you sail along the river. Check out more places to visit in Portugal.
