Madeira hiking was breathtaking. Beautiful, clean scenery and friendly locals.
Beautiful variety of walking, the itinerary provided a good mix of length & difficulty of days.
We had a great trip. Madeira is a beautiful island and the hiking was amazing. The tour was well planned with no major issues. We did additional nights in Machico, Sanata and Funchal which were very good decisions.
Fantastic trip! Best ever. Do not hesitate!
Our hiking trip to Madeira Island with Utracks was wonderful. The food, the lodging, the hiking was all top notch. We especially appreciated the RoadBook app, which made navigating a breeze. The transfers/shuttles to and from the hikes all went very well. And of course, the scenery is stunning. We were a bit concerned when we got the route notes for the hikes a week before leaving, which made the hiking and navigating seem a bit daunting. But the night before the trip started local guide Edouardo met with us to go over all the details, and put our minds at rest. We found the hiking to be relatively moderate. The second day's trip out to the Sau Lourenco peninsula was extremely windy and crowded, with loose gravel and steep, narrow steps. While the scenery was spectacular, the hiking made my 72 yo husband a bit nervous.
Madeira hiking was wonderful! The hikes were curated to show the island highlights and we were not disappointed with any of the day's trails. The food along the way was really good and the hotels were friendly and clean. We feel that we had a very authentic experience of Portugal in Madeira and I highly recommend it!
Madeira has impressive and varied scenery from cliffs, mountains, flora and levadas. The local food and drink is delicious and affordable.
Wonderful hiking on the island.
We enjoyed the trip. The walking was quite varied and not too demanding. The drop-offs and pick-ups were well organised. We liked staying in the different hotels, particularly the small Quinta in the mountains.
Madeira is wonderful walking terrain with spectacular views and lots of interesting flora.
There was a bit of confusing communication initially that our trip was booked by them with and the local tour company. Once we navigated that though, which wasn’t overly challenging, we were very impressed by all the information and support available to us. The app with its included route detail and commentary of what we’d experience was extensive and extremely helpful. Made the trip seamless and very enjoyable.
We recently visited Madeira for a walking holiday. Everything from transfers and accommodation to the interactive mapping app showing the routes for our daily walks was excellent. The walks themselves were easy to moderate grade and combined places of interest with trails alongside lavadas, taking us through a variety of beautiful plants and vegetation. The bonus at the end of the trip was a night in a fantastic small boutique hotel downtown Funchal.
Support from was superb for last minute changes and tailoring some the hikes. Very responsive.
Our hiking trip in Madeira was spectacular. Hiking along the levadas and the hike that included Pico Ruivo were hikes that we'll never forget. The in-country support was very responsive, especially given that we were hiking during the Christmas holidays.
Just home from a hugely enjoyable self-guided walking holiday in Madeira and my wife and I had a fantastic time. The walks each day were stunning and all so different. It was great to have several different route options most days and the detailed route notes and GPX files made it difficult to take a wrong turn. Thank you for organising a Terrific week!! 5 Stars
