day 1Trip starts in Lisbon

Our trip begins in Lisbon, founded on seven hills overlooking the estuary of the River Tagus, the city became the capital of Portugal after its conquest from the Moors in 1147. As Portugal built a global empire from the 15th century onwards, Lisbon became the hub of international trade and the heart of this maritime Golden Age of discovery, reflected in the monumental architecture. A devastating earthquake, and resulting tsunami, almost entirely destroyed the capital in 1755 and so today, Lisbon appears as a carefully planned 18th-century city. If you arrive earlier in the day, why not explore Alfama, Lisbon's oldest neighbourhood, and sample a pastel de nata (a traditional Portuguese custard pastry)? There are no planned activities today, so you're free to arrive at any time. Our tour leader will meet you in the hotel reception at 7pm for a welcome meeting and for those that wish, there is the chance to go out for dinner. If you'd like an airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Lisbon Airport (LIS), which is a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Should you miss the welcome meeting, our tour leader will inform you of any essential information as soon as you catch up.

Had a great time on this bike tour, with a fantastic group who all seemed to enjoy each others company and shared many stories. Our guide, Oriel was excellent ably assisted by Joaquim who provided us with some delicious lunches. Couple of days climbing with some off road cycling on gravel & sand but not too onerous in my view. Accommodation was good, a couple of hotels were excellent and also had a pool. Would recommend this trip to cyclists with some experience of riding.

The trip was amazing. The scenery we biked by was truely amazing to see. Our trip leader Oriol was really great and he took great care of us all. A little disappointed with some of the hotels we were placed in. They were all rated at 4 stars... I'd say the first hotel and the last hotel was a 4 star. But after that the hotels just went down hill from there. Over all it was a wonderful bike trip

Well thought out package, not the cheapest, and some hotels were more like hostels . This is possibly because the 1st Lisbon hotel was of a very high standard, much more than really required for 1st night of bike holiday, this perhaps used up a significant amount of the accommodation budget. The bikes were excellent and tour leader and driver were brilliant.

My holiday was very enjoyable, wonderful scenery, great food and company. The guide was excellent as were the hotels. The itinerary was well planned with plenty of time to explore on your own.
