Itinerary
Cross the storied Aubrac Plateau in southern France on the "Le Puy Camino - Aumont to Conques" self-guided walking tour, an 8-day exploration rich in history and natural beauty. Designed for experienced travelers and those seeking a meaningful journey, this moderate-level trip follows the Via Podiensis—the French Way of St James—through charming villages, Romanesque churches, and the picturesque town of Conques.
This stage is part of the greater pilgrimage route to Compostela, a path trodden by pilgrims since the 9th century. The itinerary can be combined with other segments, offering flexibility to tailor your adventure. All accommodations, meals, and transport are arranged for a worry-free experience.
The trip’s standout feature is its passage through a landscape that feels like an open-air museum, brimming with centuries-old art and architecture, making it an enriching walking tour for lovers of culture and heritage.

The scenery on this section is nothing short of spectacular. The towns and villages are beautiful, the people and food along the way are exceptional.
The trip was very good. It was lovely to see the countryside especially the wildflowers and the cattle. Interesting experiences with food and accommodations, some wonderful some mediocre. As a way of seeing rural France it was great.
Great hiking area, villages are small and beautiful with laid back feel.
Our Camino walk from Aumont Aubrac to Conques was very well organised by UTracks, and everything went smoothly as far as the accommodation and baggage transfers. Unfortunately for us, even in May, it rained every day and even hailed, but this did not dampen our enthusiasm for the beautiful scenery we were walking through, and the towns and villages we stayed in. Compared to last year we upgraded our accommodation, although this wasn't always apparent. Half of our party were vegetarians, and the food was atrocious. The French do not cater for vegetarians. The food for the meat eaters was good, but still with hardly a vegetable of salad in sight. Overall very satisfied with UTracks, just the lack of vegetarian food is disappointing- pasta would be great!
The walk was fabulous, very well organised, meals were delicious and accomodation was perfect for our group of 10.
