Trek through the awe-inspiring Apurimac canyon and river before reaching the enigmatic city of Choquequirao—often dubbed Machu Picchu’s "sister" for its striking architecture. Here, explore well-preserved terraces, plazas, and stone buildings perched atop a remote hilltop. The route traverses diverse ecosystems, revealing exotic flora and fauna unique to this region of Peru. day 1 - CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISKA

We will leave the hotel in Cusco early (at around 05:30 am) and travel for around four hours to reach the town of San Pedro de Cachora. We will have our breakfast there and meet our muleteers, who will be transporting our goods. In the zone called Capuliyoc, we will begin our two-hour walk to the “Abra of Capuliyoc” (2,894 meters), where we will have our lunch. We will then descend for approximately three hours toward Chiquiska (1,900 meters), where we will spend overnight.

day 2 - CHIQUISKA – ROSALINAS BEACH – CHOQUEQUIRAO

After breakfast, we will hike for about five hours to reach Maranpata, where we will stop for lunch and enjoy the beautiful view of Choquequirao. Next, we will walk two more hours to reach the archaeological complex of Choquequirao and spend the night near it.

day 3 - CHOQUEQUIRAO TOUR

This day is essential as we will tour the entire archaeological complex of Choquequirao and explore some places that are covered by lush vegetation of the cloud forest. Our guide will be providing us with all the relevant information about the site and its historical significance. After the guided tour, we will have free time to explore the complex on our own. Lunch and dinner will be served in our camp. Today, we will be spending time in the same place as the night before.

day 4 - CHOQUEQUIRAO – COCAMASANA

We will start the long descent toward the Apurimac river, where we will stop for lunch. After this, we will begin to ascend gradually for around three to four hours toward our last camp, Cocamasana (2,300 meters). From here, we will also have a spectacular view of the Choquequirao route.

day 5 - COCAMASANA – CONOC – CUSCO

After having obtained a delicious breakfast, we will walk around two hours to reach the Apurimac canyon and get amazing photos. Our trek end here, as we will be taking a return trip by bus back to Cusco. On the way, we will stop to observe the enormous stone of Saywite, carved by the Incas in the representation of their empire. After two hours, we can enjoy the thermal waters of Conoc to relax and have a delicious lunch. Finally, we will arrive in Cusco.
