Peru Tours in October 2026

A varied and fascinating itinerary exploring lots of different parts of Peru. Our guide, Miguel, was fabulous. He is a warm and extremely competent tour guide who looked after us superbly throughout the trip. The use of specialist guides greatly added to the experience. There is a lot of travelling with this trip and sometimes we would have liked a bit more time exploring on foot rather than using a minibus. Overall, a great trip.

Myriam in Galapagos was the most amazing tour leader. Really helpful and supportive when I ended up with food poisoning - practical but not fussing. She told us so much about the places and was so proud of her country Ecuador. It was a joy to hear her. Nilton in Peru was equally helpful when our bags went missing for the first 5 days! The trip was really full on and had so much moving but it was needed to fit everything in. Make sure you pack light! Prepare for lots of early starts and quick turn arounds. Even though it says moderate it’s as full on as some full on tours! The scenery was incredible. From the mountains in Peru and Machu Picchu to volcanoes in Ecuador. The Galapagos were stunning. Isabela is so very beautiful. Wildlife everywhere you look through the whole trip. Every day is just wow. Some hotels were a little basic. The one in Quito had no lift and arriving in the middle of the night had no one to help with bags. The stair carpet was loose and stair rail wobbly so a bit dodgy. A couple we had no hot water and one the breakfast was very basic, though they were all clean and had comfortable beds.

Booking with Explore is easy and straightforward. The ability to log in to your account to add and check details is excellent. Explore are always keeping you up to date with your trip. My trip to Peru was amazing. Wonderful country, landscapes, food, culture. The Explore itinerary captures all the highlights without the hassle of organising yourself. Julio was a great tour leader. Friendly, funny, well organised and professional. We didn't have to worry about anything with Julio looking after us.

We had a fantastic trip to Peru and the Amazon Jungle. Our guide in Peru, Lyss, was amazing. So helpful and very knowledgeable. There were no questions she could not answer. Also there were problems with some flights and lost luggage and Lyss kept in touch and helped sort out all the issues for everyone in a very efficient and effective way. I would absolutely recommend Lyss as a fantastic and lovely guide.

Our trip to Peru was absolutely wonderful and full of unforgettable moments. A true highlight was visiting Lake Titicaca, exploring the floating Uros Islands, and meeting the Taquile Island community — a magical and authentic experience. Everything ran smoothly overall, though travel logistics could be improved slightly with a little less reliance on public transport. Our leader, Lyss, was exceptional from start to finish — warm, attentive, and always ready to help. She truly went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the best experience possible. Accommodation was good throughout. Explore usually chooses charming, locally run hotels full of character, which I really appreciate. While the Hilton was perfectly fine, it didn’t have quite the same local feel I’ve come to love on Explore trips. Overall, a great trip that I would highly recommend.

Ernesto was a superb trip leader. He helped us all at sometime or other, warm and friendly, knowledgeable, confident and a great organiser. He was sympathetic and generally great fun. Thank you Ernesto !
