Feedback from guests who toured Peru during June.
Excellent tour and introduction into Peru culture and the amazing Inca history. Our tour guide Joseph was fabulous, very knowledgeable about Peruvian history and culture, extremely patient with our group, kind and always concerned about the welfare and safety of our group. I give this tour an A+ as I do for Joseph and all the folks at Explore (especially Patricia and Vicky) who helped me with all my questions and concerns. The 3 San Antonio hotels we stayed at were fabulous, the hotel in Ollenaytambo was cute and right next to the City center, but the hotel in Machu Picchu was over the top. All had good breakfasts, clean rooms, pleasant and helpful staff and strong WIFI. About the only change I would suggest is adding 1-2 full days in Lima which has so much to offer. I also think the optional activities to Morass and Morey should just be included in the itinerary and pricing. I also did the 4 day extension to Inkaterra lodge in the Amazon and that was also wonderful, relaxing and my jungle guide Victor was terrific as were all the staff there.
Loved my time in Peru. I was particularly impressed with how the itinerary was well planned. It allowed for plenty activities but also down time to relax and explore on our own. I love animals, so I really liked the day trip to the Colca Canyon, where I got to see flamingos.
A very full but interesting trip which included both cultural and historical aspects of Peru. The overnight stay on Lake Titicaca was particularly enjoyable, as was the Inti Raymi festival in Cuzco. Definitely recommended - pity it's only once a year!
The Peru tour was an excellent introduction to the country, its culture and history. I appreciated the range of sites visited and the different accommodations. The tour leader and individual guides were very knowledgeable and gave great insights into all aspects of the locations. I found that the range and quality of food was an unexpected bonus.
The Inca Trail Adventure was the best vacation I've ever been on. I liked how we had a few days before trekking to Machu Picchu to acclimate to the high altitude, learn about the different ancient cultures of Peru, and even got to do some light hiking, explore ruins, and visit a small town where we saw a guinea pig farm, visited the town's only stove, and learned how to make Peruvian corn beer. We had 2 separate guided the first 2 days and they were wonderful. The trekking portion on the Ancascocha Trail was so special and unbelievable. We were the only hikers on the trail. We felt well supported with 7 horses/donkeys, 2 cooks, and 2 horsemen. Our guide Carlos was amazing. He did a wonderful job showing us the lay of the land, guiding us through the local's farmlands and mountains. We hiked fast so Carlos decided to do 2 days of hiking in 1 and we were rewarded with good hiking and a nicer place to stay for 2 nights instead of 1. We did a bonus hike and one of the cooks who lived there used a machete up a mountain so we can get amazing views. The food and the sights of this trip were top notch.
Perfection. I have nothing to complain about. And it was truly the trip of a lifetime. I’ve wanted to visit Peru since I was 3 years old watching Jacque Cousteau (I’m 59 now) and it was every bit as magical, intriguing, awe inspiring, and beautiful as I had hoped.
