The outstanding aspect of this wonderful hike was the planning of the campsites. We stayed largely in smaller campsites out of phase with the 200 other hikers joining the trail every day so one would not have known there were so many people on it. The exception was the final campsite which was unmissable given its views over the Andes and clouds. The other advantage compared with the average tourist is the walk down into Macchu Pinchu, I had previously visited there on a tour and the experience was infinitely better this way.

My particular highlights were Lake Titikaka and the Inca Trail. The itinerary was perfectly crafted - with the first week a bit slower to allow us to get to used to the altitude, and the second week the walking ramped up with the Inca Trail. Fast moving trip covering many Peru highlights. Excellent Guide (Renzo) kept us well informed, able to access elements of Peruvian culture which would have been difficult without him, and safe. Safe primarily with regard to altitude which is a significant consideration for this trip and most of it operates over 3000m and tops out at 4900ms.

My wife and I have just returned from our 'bucket list' trip 'Simply Peru' with Explore. It lived up to our expectations and then some! The iternary was what we would have hoped for with a few good surprises such as the two days on Lake Titicaca- especially Taquile Island, if a little on the 'cool' side, and Colca Valley and the Condors. Our main highlights were a flight over the Nazca Lines and, of course, Machu Picchu! We also did the Machu Picchu Mountain hike - another highlight. Cuzco is such a wonderful city with some great Inca heritage including Sacsaywaman. There were many, many more highlights not least of which was our tour leader, Erickson Arenas. Thank you Erickson for making this such a memorable holiday. I would recommend this trip to anyone without hesitation. This will take some beating!
