Excellent

Two weeks through Colombia and Peru, and it felt like we packed in a lifetime of memories. It was busy, yes, but in the best way, every day brought something new and unexpected. Cartagena was our first stop, hot and humid, but absolutely beautiful. Great seafood & some of the most charming streets I’ve walked through in a long time. The coffee region was a real highlight for me. I’ve always enjoyed a good cup but actually seeing how it’s grown and meeting the people behind it added a whole new appreciation. Brought back a few bags and now I can’t drink anything else. Bogota was big and bustling. A bit hectic at times, but had a nice energy to it. The view from Monserrate was well worth the climb (well...cable car in our case!). Then Peru — absolutely stunning. Machu Picchu is everything they say and more. Pictures don’t do it justice. The Sacred Valley was peaceful, Cusco was full of character, and Lake Titicaca? Fascinating. I had no idea about the floating islands before this. A few early mornings here and there, but that’s part of the deal when you want to see so much. Would definitely recommend this trip to fellow travelers 50+ who are still up for an adventure but want it all organized for you. Just pack your walking shoes and an open mind, South America will take care of the rest.

INCA TRAIL to MACHI PICCHU

As our guide would say "The point is this, my friends"... and the day begins. This was one of the best experience I have had. Our guide - Gary - made sure we were on schedule on the trek. He explained to us all the pros and cons and how to get the most out of the Inca Trail. The porters were great. The chef - Julio - made the best camp meals for vegetarians. The scenery is breathtaking. Yes it may seem long and a lot of walking but its worth it. The team made the whole journey worthwhile - from booking to the end. Rosmel - our booking contact kept us informed all the time. Don't hesitate, just do it. Great guide, chef and company. Mahesh

One family, two hiking paces

Our family of four quickly split into two different hiking paces, fast and slow, on this trip. Jacqueline was incredibly patient and supportive with the altitude challenged hiker, and allowed the rest of the group to feel less guilty about charging ahead at a faster pace. Jacqueline’s gentle support allowed everyone to have a great trip at their own speed. Once we got to Agua Caliente, our friends and co-travelers upgraded to the InkaTerra hotel and invited us for dinner. We recommend this hotel for your final night of the trip.

I highly recommend the agency

We planned a trip to Paraguay, Bolivia, and Chile with the tireless help of Sofia, who designed the itinerary according to our requests. During the trip, a few setbacks arose (the Chilean border was closed, flights were canceled…) that had to be resolved, and Milagros showed exceptional attention, care, and competence in finding solutions and saving the trip thanks to her availability and ability to find alternatives. For all of this, I am truly grateful and would like to express my appreciation for everything they did. I highly recommend the agency, and in particular, the two team members I mentioned. Thank you

Excellent

Peru wasn't love at first sight, but it became something unforgettable. Lima felt chaotic but I quickly fell into rhythm. Then the Amazon hit me like another world entirely. You don’t just see nature there. You hear it and feel it pressing in around you. The nights were humid and loud, filled with the chorus of life. It was wildly outside my comfort zone but I loved it. Cusco had colonial charm and a sense of sacredness in every stone. Machu Picchu was, of course, the crown jewel. But what surprised me most? The way the guide told its story, not just facts, but legends, perspectives, reverence. This trip didn’t feel curated to be “easy.” It was immersive. Real. A little demanding at times but that’s what made it stick. These guys handled everything greatly. I came home with stories I actually want to tell not just photos to post.

Stellar Service, Stunning Views

Pepe (main guide) and Yhon (assistant guide) were highly professional, helpful, patient, and informative. They provided a wealth of information about the region’s history, culture, and natural landscape. Not only that, they were very extremely attentive to our needs and safety, such as by constantly looking out for signs of altitude sickness and accompanying both the front and back of the pack. The chef and the assistant cooks provided us with fantastic meals, many of which included local delicacies — always adjusted to dietary needs (vegetarian in our case). Last but not least, the porters never disappointed and operated smoothly even in moments of staffing shortage. All in all, terrific service with a great group in a beautiful landscape that stunningly transitions from an alpine to forest biome, culminating in the beautiful and unforgettable sight of Machu Picchu. Would absolutely recommend this company and their guides!

A custom holiday lets you pair iconic highlights like the Inca Trail and the archaeological city of Cusco with experiences far off the typical tourist trail. When to go to Peru

The best time to visit Peru is between May and September, when the dry season brings warm days, clear skies, and excellent trekking conditions. From October to December, the weather remains pleasant, and with fewer crowds, Machu Picchu feels more serene. However, the wettest months from January to April often bring heavy rains that can close major hiking routes, making this period less ideal for trekkers. Check out monthly guides.

How long to stay in Peru

A seven-day trip is enough to complete the Inca Trail and reach the awe-inspiring citadel of Machu Picchu. But to experience more of what Peru has to offer, plan for 10 days to two weeks. With the extra time, you can climb Rainbow Mountain, cruise on Lake Titicaca, or share a pisco sour with locals in Lima. The longer you stay, the deeper your connection with Peru’s landscapes and culture will become. Learn more.

Must-visit destinations in Peru

No trip to Peru is complete without the bucket-list wonder of Machu Picchu, ideally approached along the legendary Inca Trail. But a customized trip opens up so much more. Venture into the Amazon to spot wildlife in its natural habitat, or spend time in Lima discovering its overlooked but vibrant cultural and culinary scene. Head to Lake Titicaca to see reed boats and floating villages, watch majestic condors soar above the Colca Canyon, and take a flight over the enigmatic Nazca Lines. A tailor-made Peru itinerary ensures you don’t just see the highlights, you experience the country in all its richness. Discover more places in Peru.
