Corsica was more mountainous and greener than expected. A good range of walks. Not too challenging for regular hill walkers and we considered it well pitched as moderate. The hotel is basic but functional and the dinners were very tasty. Enjoyed using trains to get to the start of most of our walks.
Was a beautiful holiday for a Sunchaser who loves a nice hike beautiful weather, landscapes, heat ng in lagoons and eating delicious food!
Guide Igor is exceptional in his roll and an asset to Exodus . His leadership and ability to stay calm in a crisis , shone when a fellow trekker fell and required assistance and evacuation.
It was very hot in the week I just did this holiday but nonethrless it was great.
Beautiful forest and streams, charming towns and a landscape steeped in history. One of the best hikes I’ve done.
The whole experience was great.Excellent fellow travellers and travelling by train to the start point on most days was really enjoyable. The hotel is basic but the food was good.Stopping at a bar at the end of most days was also great. Our guide ,Roberta ,was fun and very knowledgeable
Beautiful scenery and views in the mountains . Hotel: my room was a little ‘tired’. Evening meals were mostly tasty and creative. The chef was able to accommodate a gluten free choice. Choice of Packed lunches and fruit was available, and although it would have been good to have been offered cake as well😂 The walks each day were very interesting and at times were challenging underfoot and the ascents, for me personally were challenging. Use of local train network was very advantageous.
Corsica was much more mountainous and greener than we had expected. The walks were through beautiful countryside and it was great fun using the local railway to start/end some of the walks. Most of the paths were good, but some were quite steep and one had been eradicated by the wild pigs (but the guide found the path again!) We were lucky to have sunny weather all week, so all planned walks were achievable, though some may not have been possible if it had been wet.
A great week in a beautiful place with excellent food, a charming hotel and a fun leader. All you could ask for...
After waiting 2 years it was good to eventually be able to go on this trip. The organisation was perfect, and although only 2* the stay was in a traditional family hotel with friendly staff, a clean and comfortable room, and a good shower to end the day with. The views from my room were spectacular, and the evening meals were superb. All the walks were of the standard I expected, and all in beautiful surroundings. It was interesting to take the local train to the start point of each walk on most days.
It’s great when all the elements for a superb holiday come together:- hotel, food, walks, scenery, weather, the other walkers, and the guides - a wonderful holiday in a lovely location.
The week was full of outstanding beauty, different terrains, rock pools to swim in, bird life and flowers
This was my first walking holiday. Martin Goddard is an exceptional guide. The whole holiday was very well organised from start to finish. The walks were as described and the scenery was amazing. The group were fantastic, very supportive and great fun. Highly recommended.
Corsica has all that you could want for adventurers on a Mediterranean island. Mountains, forests, wildlife, plants and a way of life adapted to the environment.
First Exodus holiday and a great experience.
Excellent
An excellent walking holiday. Recommended. Very good hotel. Interesting and unspoiled countryside. Travel by train to walks a very good part of the holiday.
A pleasant weeks walking on a mixture of forest and more open trails. Hotel is pleasant. The evening meals were better than the very bread heavy breakfasts and pack lunches.
The guide , the party and the walking was excellent. Very well pitched as a level 3. The hotel structure was fine but the food was the low point of the holiday. There was not even a bar in the hotel. Breakfast for all 7 days was a hard boiled egg, a slice of formed ham, a croissant and a decent supply of baguette...every day
Corsica was beautiful in the late summer sunshine. The hiking was as described in the trip notes and I felt appropriately prepared for the level of walking. Good central base and excellent use of the trains to allow a varied set of walks. The last two walks were outstanding, though there wasn’t a day I didn’t enjoy. Hotel was basic but adequate with welcoming hosts. I would definitely do a similar trip again.
Corsica is an absolute gem. The trip was exactly as described, and it just makes me want to go back!
Everything came together for this trip - Martin, our excellent leader, a group which gelled, wonderful scenery & walks that were just a bit of a challenge for someone used to walking in the Pennines! If the weather was hot, there was the option of a cooling dip in a mountain stream at the end of most walks. The free day allowed everyone to choose either to visit Ajaccio by train or just have a relaxing day in Bocognano. The hotel Beausejour was basic but provided everything needed after a day of trekking in the hills! Recommended!
My wife and I had an outstanding time on our hiking trip in Corsica. it was great fun getting on the train in the mornings and off to hike a different area of the island. Our guide Sabastian did an outstanding job of taking care of us and guiding us through his part of France. He took great pride in showing us the countryside and informing us of the local history. We also were impressed with his knowledge of the birds and vegetation of the area. The kikes were challenging and provided a great perspective of the terrain of the island.
Our guide Sebastian was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Corsica as well as the history of the island. He has a great sense of humor which makes any trip more fun. The train is super convenient for the trip. Easy walk from the hotel and usually a short train trip to another village and then a hike. Excellent variety of terrain and views. Usually around 5 hours on the trail each day. Good hiking boots and poles were much appreciated. The accommodations and food are adequate and serve the purpose well.
First time in Corsica and was surprised by its beauty and the variety of walks along wooded valleys and mountain climbs in starker scenery above the tree line - not just the GR20. Enjoyed travelling on the scenic railway and we had a great group and guide. Modest accommodation more than made up for by the views from the hotel, friendly owner and the hearty food. Would recommend going in June when its still very green and lots of wild flowers on display.
Well balanced group and trip in good location for trains to hiking trails. The first days route was poor especially in comparison to the rest of the days.
A varied set of walks in a beautiful green island. Woods, rivers, waterfalls among the mountains. The walks weren't crowded and we were mostly the only walkers on the trail.
Excellent trip. Day 1 walk was fairly ordinary, while days 2, 5 and 6 were all really fantastic. Extra special thanks to the Exodus team for making this trip happen, when the French ATC strike occurred.
This is a wonderful trip to gladden the heart of anyone who enjoys walking in fabulous rugged mountains, alonside (and over) mountain streams and through meadows and forests. For someone like myself who is a rabid plantaholic it brings the added delight of myriad wild flowers including some very beautiful orchids. The walks were all great come rain or shine and included visiting picturesque villages and learning a smattering of history with forts and menhir. There is also a chance to visit the coast which happily has not had rampant development. The hotel is situated close to the village rail station which was ideal for hopping on to get to the start of the walks. I can reccommend aiding the local economy by visiting the bakery and at the end of a walk relaxing in a local bar, maybe with a beer or pastisse, although not compulsory it was a great way to end a great day of walking.
I was very much looking forward to this holiday and it did not disappoint. You see mountains in every direction and get to ride on a train to get to and from some of the walks. The hotel is charming.....as is Paul the owner. Everyone smiles and you feel very welcome. It is basic.....but this is part of the charm. The showers may be small but there is plenty of hot water all the time. Beds are comfy and everywhere is wonderfully clean. Mostly the food tastes delicious and is well presented and served by Paul himself.
This trip exceeded my expectations. We were fortunate to have a wonderful guide who had an eye on everyone and their capabilities so that we all had a fabulous time. Our group was excellent and the village we stayed in was great. The hotel was rustic but in a lovely position - you don't go on a walking holiday to sit in your room!
Everything went smoothly! Though the hotel was basic, it was clean and comfortable! The chef was fantastic, with a different 3 course meal every night. The walks were challenging... though very beautiful, I think I would have preferred them to be a bit shorter in length to give us more time at the end of the day to wind down and enjoy the hotel surroundings.
Guide was excellent. Good company and provided fantastic walks. Hotel was ok but staff were excellent. They did their best for vegetarian food and it was different each night not just pasta and pizza. Would not recommend sharing room with someone you didn't know as the rooms were small. The group was lovely.
The travel arrangements were excellent but the hotel was poor. Although very clean, the rooms were shabby, particularly the bathrooms. The food was uninspiring - it would have been good to have had some local dishes with fresh vegetables and fruit. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and meeting our fellow travellers.
A wonderful trip in stunning mountain scenery.
A good week of walking in a mountain landscapeusing the scenic mountain railway to access most walks.
Corsoca is a beautiful island with superb scenery , well organised , well led holday , weather was very good. The group worked well , supportive of people of different speeds of walking , some fun characters & good stories.

A wonderful trip in stunning mountain scenery.
Great introduction to Walking in Corsica.
Fabulous scenery, great walks, beautiful scents of the maquis, excellent guide (Rudi) etc. etc. Everything I had hoped Corsica would be, and so much more. The trip has inspired me to dot THE big one next year, the GR20. Can't wait !!!
Overall a very good trip, dramatic mountain scenery with a good friendly guide called Suzie. Enjoyed using the local trains to get to starts of some of the walks, and particularly enjoyed the welcome breaks she gave us for bathing/paddling in the streams and pools as the weather was hot.
