Starting and ending in Val de Loire, this self-guided bicycle trip weaves through Chenonceaux, Chitenay, and picturesque countryside dotted with duck farms, orchards, and medieval villages. Highlights include exploring the medieval charm of Blois, marveling at Amboise’s imposing chateau, and savoring local cuisine and wines. With comfortable hotel stays, included meals, and seamless transport, this journey is tailored for those who appreciate history, culture, and the freedom to set their own pace. The unique selling point: cycling the "playground of kings" allows you to intimately experience the Loire’s legendary landscapes and grand estates—without the crowds—making it a truly regal adventure for those seeking comfort and exploration.
We appreciated the detail to attention to our personal requirements including : bike type / both electronic and hard copy maps and information of our planned daily ventures / details of our upgraded hotels / the smooth transportation of our luggage each day / even the administration back up when we had a bike mechanical breakdown. Overall a very slick operation for which we would gladly recommend to others .
We did this trip as a family of 5 and had a wonderful time. Our children are aged 4, 8 and 12yo so we used a buggy and pull along. The organization was seamless. Mostly the terrain was flat and very picturesque. We were lucky to have perfect weather. The paper maps provided are fairly useful but the app is outstanding, so make sure you have sufficient phone battery. Bikes were good quality. No lost luggage. Apart from the castle, this village is very small (unlike Ambrose, blois). Perhaps a different route could be chosen. Overall, highly recommend.
Everything very well organize. Hotel reservations should be deliver sooner.
Excellent planning and organisation.
Loved this trip. A very beautiful part of France. We used standard bikes & coped OK but its " hilly" in parts and we would suggest E bikes for a more comfortable trip. Two of us are over 70. The app was not always accurate & we had a few wrong turns. Fortunately the app told us that.
We had a great time cycling for 6 days in the Loire valley. The bikes were excellent, and the app worked great.
Lovely trip well organised and great cycle paths and hidden back roads through glorious scenery. Nightingales singing along the way.
Blessed with good weather, we very much enjoyed our Loire Valley cycling tour. It wasn't until day 3 that we mastered the App. From then on we found it invaluable. The vast majority of the trip was on quiet roads or cycle paths - very few hills. Other than the cycling through some great scenery, highlights were the chateaux at Cheverny and Chenonceau, and the hotel at Chitenay.
I loved the cycle trip mostly on cycle paths through the most beautiful countryside full of birdsong. Time to visit the amazing chateaux strewn along the way it was magic!
The entire trip was easy enough on an ebike. A few gravel tracks were challenging but that was all part of it! I paid for accommodation upgrade and it was so worth it.. with the exception of the first and last night the places we stayed at were charming and comfortable. The first and last night's were at The Mercure, which was all of the above but it just didn't have the charm and history that resonated with the other hotels.
