Bulk of the activities were not optional. Had we not taken these optional activities, we would have had a blend and boring time. So it felt like we had no choice but opt in, pay, and make our trip worthwhile.
Very well planned and effecient
Our guide, Jason, was excellent. Actually, all of our guides were good. The food at the restaurant in Burano and at our cooking lesson in Greece was very good. We wish we would have had more time at the Vatican and at the church at Meteora. We made lovely memories.
The tour was great. We wanted to see as much as possible and relaxation was not a priority and we got what we wanted. was an outstanding tour guide and very helpful. We were surprised by the amount of "optional fee-based excursions" and expected that many of those would have been included in the tour package. That ended up costing more than anticipated and that was not fully understood before the trip. The tour group size of 48 was too large and made it difficult to manage. The best meal experiences we had were the couple we broke off from the group and went to our own restaurants. The large group meals felt a little like large batch wedding banquet food due to the large group. Overall it was an outstanding tour and I would do it again and highly recommend it to others.
Choose a better hotel with better food service
Hotels are not central and rooms and bathrooms for first 2 hotels are very poor. First hotel had holes. Food menu was repetitive. Did not get quality especially in Italy. Last dining room in Greece was not air conditioned. Florence dining room was too small. Did not get to see popular sites. Tour director and coach drivers were excellent.
I personally felt it was too busy, go, go, go and no down time. By the end of the trip, we were all exhausted. Too much time riding between locations on a bus. I enjoyed the sightseeing, but didn't need the extensive walking part of it. The sights were amazing. I would have liked more diversity in the food. We basically ate the same foods at each scheduled event. Only when we were on our own, did we get different ethnic foods.
I would like to see more options for single traveller's, without the extra cost please
Great, but alot of walking.Tour guide excellent
Great experience, so much history and beautiful architecture. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly.
Have not taken a land trip for awhile nor been to both Greece and Italy for several years. Trafalgar was able to include both the highlights of Italy and Greece with excellent accommodations, restaurant offerings, and interesting optional trip experiences. To see the highlights of both countries the pace was in line with what I desired to see and expected. was an excellent/knowledgeable tour director/guide plus Trafalgar was able to meet unexpected challenges in Rome with a Pope passing away. Just about everything offered was accomplished. Taking this land trip encourages me to look at other trips in the future. Excellent choice of locations to visit. Would recommend this trip to others who want to see a lot in a short amount of days. Overall, totally loved the trip and was one of the best sight seeing trips I've taken to Europe. It reignited my interest for visiting both countries again.
Wonderful trip. Be prepared for long days and a lot of walking. Visited many wonderful sights and learned so much through our guides. My favorite was Vatican City especially St Peter’s Bascilica. What an amazing display of beauty and faith. The trip included so many great experiences. Wish we could have spent a little more time at each location but to visit each scheduled sight we needed to move quickly through to the next experience. Our tour guide was the BEST. We are already thinking ahead to our next journey
Greatest tour guide ever ( ) love his energy his knowledge and concern for everyone making sure we were well taken care of.
I wasn't prepared to pay an additional $400 for excursion but I paid for it because I didn't want to miss out on the fun. Our tour guide was exceptional he took good care of us.
Would have liked more tours included in the trip vs additional charge
We loved the combination of being able to see so much of, the best of, Italy and greece in one tour. The touring VS travel time was just right. Never did it seem like we were on the bus too long. We included all of the excursions with our guide . He was great. Almost all of our group of 39 did them all. What a group bonding experience we had by the end of the trip. I suggest that the excursions just be included as they were some of the more memorable parts of our journey.
The Best of Italy and Greece is amazing! This is my fourth trip with Trafalgar and my second time in Italy. The most important thing to know is I would go on this trip again! That’s how amazing it was! We got in to all of the sites right away with minimal or no wait, even the Vatican Museum. I was super impressed with our Travel Director, Jason H. His knowledge of the sites we visited was incredible! The local travel guides were amazing as well! I highly recommend the Greek Cooking Class optional booking. In fact we signed up for all of the optional bookings and are very glad we did. We opted not to go on the subsequent four day cruise and if we went on this trip again we would go! Trafalgar goes above and beyond to make their customers happy. We celebrated our first anniversary there and were given gifts for this by our Travel Director. So kind! We will be booking our next trip soon!
Lots to see and do; pace is fairly challenging. Tour director very knowledgeable and kept us on schedule.
More challenging walking then expected. May have beeHn helpful for shoe attire. Also heads up on clothing attire. All & All very nice trip. Got to see a lot. Loved our tour guide . He made it so interesting. Very knowledgeable about all sights. He took very good care of us. Would travel Trafalgar again!
This is not your typical tour - it is worse. The vast majority of activities are "optional," and if you decide not to pay, you will waste about two days doing absolutely nothing or just walking around by yourself. Furthermore, the tour director spends so much time, if not all, just trying to sell you the extra activities. They have an absolutely poor choice of restaurants. The visit to the Colosseum was just to "walk around" the Colosseum; we never went inside. It would be better to just drive around since we did not see much. Some other activities were complete unworthy. They claimed we had special reservations and no need to wait in line - false. We waited over 45 minutes or more to get into the Vatican. In a nutshell, I would not recommend this company to anyone. Unless you are desperate to so somewhere.
