There was no tour leader on this 3 night trip to Victoria Falls. The hotel was of a very high standard and the trip around Victoria Falls was well guided by a local guide. The food at the hotel was excellent and I enjoyed strolling through the grounds of the hotel. I booked a helicopter ride through the hotel, but should have booked direct as this would have been cheaper. Overall a lovely extension to the Garden Route holiday.

We added Victoria Falls as an extension to the South Africa Safari and Beach Famoly tour and it was a perfect, relaxing end to our holiday. Pioneers Lodge was a wonderful, colonial style lodge. We had two spacious bedrooms which were very comfortable. The reception team were super friendly and organised our excursions. The restaurant was lovely with an excellent breakfast choice and the dinner was high quality and impeccable service. Both pools nice and clean and gardens well maintained. We had a guided tours of the Falls with Simon which we enjoyed immensely. Highly recommend this trip extension!

What an adventure!

We saw a T-shirt in Africa that said “it’s not a holiday, it’s an adventure!“ This sums up exactly what this trip is about. Although it took some stamina to camp the entire time and the bus trips were long to get from destination to destination, this was an adventure like no other. Spinning, two nights roughing it in Okavango Delta was magical and we heard lions roaring at night. Our guides were outstanding and the food was better than I could possibly expect, especially since our cook did it all in a campground the safari walks and drives did not disappoint! Because we were there in July, the nights were bitterly cold, but we stayed cozy in the tents. This is definitely a trip for those seeking authentic adventure, but not for those who are uncomfortable with idea of sleeping in a tent for 10 days. Our Guide Pappy was, always so patient and so thorough with all of us and was a wealth of knowledge about the region. I love this trip, but it definitely is not for those unused to roughing it or are expecting luxury.

Wonderful road-trip into the heart of Africa

One of the many highlights is certainly the trip to the Okavango Delta with two nights in the middle of nowhere, an absolute lifetime experience. Overall, the tour is a very varied program to get to know the country, the lovely people and the nature.

I would love to travel again

Every single place that I visited from Vic Falls to Cape Town, it was totally full of epic. Astonishing, breathtaking, beautiful and wild side of Africa is what I experienced.

This was an enjoyable extension to our Namibian trip with Explore. The Pioneers Lodge was a great place to relax after a full-on tour, in beautiful grounds with ponds and greenery. The actual excursion to the Victoria Falls was rather shorter than I expected (we were collected at 8.30am for a 20 min ride and were ushered back on the transport for 11.30am). We were not told how long we had to spend there, so I felt very rushed as I wanted to take photos of the butterflies and dragonflies as well as the Falls, and would have liked time for a coffee at the cafe too (others in our group left the Falls before the end and had a drink, but we went to the end and then had to go straight back to the lodge). Not long enough for a once-in-a-lifetime visit!
