Itinerary
The tour "22-day Zanzibar, Victoria Falls Kruger Accommodated" starts in Dar Es Salaam and ends in Pretoria. This is a waterfalls trip that takes 22 days. You will travel through Kruger National Park, Iringa, Matobo National Park and 13 other destinations visiting Zimbabwe, Tanzania and 3 more countries. This is a guided small group tour. The tour includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.
day 1 - Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Island, Stone Town
We make an early start today and catch the ferry over to Zanzibar. We spend our first night in the capital Stone Town. Explore the town on foot visiting the bazaars, mosques, palaces, courtyards and alleyways.This evening its time to chill out with a tasty cocktail at one of the rooftop bars whilst enjoying the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
day 2-3 - Zanzibar Island, Nungwi
Heading north we leave Stone Town and make our way to northern beaches on the island. Your time is free here so relax on the beach or take on some of the optional activities like scuba diving and snorkelling.Whether youd like to spend your time lazing in a hammock with the lulling sound of the ocean or prefer to get active with activities - theres something for everyone at Ningwi Beach.
day 4 - Zanzibar Island, Nungwi to Dar es Salaam
Bidding our farewell to the beach we make our way back to Stone Town and head back to the mainland and Dar es Salaam where we stay for the evening.Enjoy the last night with the soft sounds of the Indian Ocean as tomorrow we head west!
day 5 - Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park Area
Leaving the coast we make our way inland through Mikumi National Park where we may be lucky enough to see elephant and giraffe along the way. Our accommodation is a stones throw from the park outside the small village of Mikumi.
day 6 - Mikumi National Park Area to Iringa
Today we journey to the town of Iringa and the Kislonza Farmhouse in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. This working farm has been family run for over 70 years and provides organic meat to the surrounding markets as well as Dar es Salaam.Nestled on the Tanzanian Highlands, the evening is crisp and cool - perfect to enjoy a night in the quaint boma with the coal stove and an Amarula hot chocolate.
day 7 - Iringa to Mbeya Region
Heading towards Malawi we make a stop at the tranquil Utengule Coffee Lodge nestled amidst the majestic Mbeya range in Southern Tanzania. Enjoy breathtaking views of the East African Rift Valley, relax by the poolside or enjoy the various activities like squash, tennis, pool, table tennis, or volleyball. For those interested in coffee, an optional guided tour through the coffee plantation is available, including a roasting demonstration and a cup of home-grown coffee.
day 8 - Mbeya Region to Chitimba Lake Malawi, Malawi
After our last night in Tanzania, we head to the Songwe border post into Malawi. Lake Malawi formerly Lake Nyasa covers almost a fifth of the countrys area and provides the source of livelihood for many of the Malawi people. Fishermen, fish traders, canoe and net makers all ply their trade, and a common sight is that of a fisherman in his Bwato, dugout canoe made from hollowed out tree trunk fishing on the lake at the break of day. The lake also has the highest number of endemic freshwater fish species of any in the world.Relax on the beach, take a leisurely village walk, visit the local craft market where you can enjoy learning the ins and outs of woodcarving your own souvenir, learn to play the game of Bao or haggle for some souvenirs.
day 9 - Chitimba to Nkhotakota Region Lake Malawi
Today we take a nice scenic drive through rubber plantations to Mzuzu - the capital of the northern region and the third largest town in Malawi - where we stop for a short while to grab supplies and check out the markets, before arriving to Ngala Beach Lodge.
day 10 - Nkhotakota Region Lake Malawi
Today youll have some free time to try some of the optional activities, such as hiring a kayak, snorkelling, village walk, waterfall hike, or simply relax and enjoy the warm, fresh waters of Lake Malawi.
day 11 - Nkhotakota Region Lake Malawi to Petauke, Zambia
Saying our goodbyes to the Lake, we drive through Nkhotakhota Game Reserve towards the border where we cross into Zambia. After completing the border formalities, we continue our journey to Petauke, a region known for agriculture, producing maize, cotton, sunflower, soya beans, and other crops.
day 12 - Petauke to Lusaka
We leave early and travel the Great Eastern Road crossing the Luangwa River to Lusaka. Lusaka is Southern Africas fastest growing city with approximately 1.7m currently living in the city.
day 13 - Lusaka to Livingstone
Leaving Lusaka we make our way south to Livingstone where we visit and experience the spray from Victoria Falls. Our accommodation is on the banks of the Zambezi River only a few kilometres from the falls.
day 14-16 - Livingstone
The next few days are free for you to take part in full or half day optional activities. Some of the activities available are bungee jumping, white water rafting, village walk, sunset cruise, gorge swing, helicopter/microlight ride, fishing and even visit neighbouring Zimbabwe.
day 17 - Livingstone to Matobo, Zimbabwe
Another day, another country! Crossing the Victoria Falls bridge this morning we enter Zimbabwe and continue south to Bulawayo, a pretty colonial city with wide tree-lined avenues. We stop in Bulawayo for supplies before heading to our campsite.
day 18 - Matobo National Park
We make the short journey to Matobo National Park, The wind-sculptured Matobo Hills are the site of numerous Bushman paintings and the area holds a special cultural and spiritual importance to the indigenous people here. The reserve has the largest concentration of Black and White Rhino in Africa and, provided conditions are right, our guides will lead us on foot to some of the more concealed places in search of these magnificent animals. Opt for an optional full day tour to visit the grave of Cecil John Rhodes at Worlds view and ancient San/Bushman paintings.
day 19 - Matobo to Tshipise, South Africa
Today we leave Matobo and make our way south to the border of South Africa at the busy Beitridge. We cross South Africas second largest river the Limpopo and arrive at hour accommodation with natural hot springs and heated pools to enjoy tonight.
day 20 - Tshipise to Hazyview Greater Kruger
Leaving Tshipise we make our way to further South to the Hazyview area and South Africas premier game reserve, Kruger National Park. The park is home to the big 5 as well as 148 mammal and over 505 bird species.Tonight we embrace the local Shangaan Culture and enjoy some traditional dancing and learn about the local tribe.
day 21 - Kruger National Park
We start the day early boarding our open 4x4 safari vehicles for a full days game drive searching for the many animals to be found in the park.With an abundance of wildlife, Kruger is home to a number of different habitats and biomes making it a crucial conservation area for many African wildlife, birdlife and flora species. Spend the day out exploring the many winding roads in search of the Big Five, the little Five and the many of spectacular sights of the park.
day 22 - Hazyview Greater Kruger to Pretoria
We leave Hazyview today and make our way to Pretoria where our tour ends.
