Why Choose a Group Tour in Africa?

Expert guides make the wildlife

A safari is not a zoo with better lighting. Wildlife viewing depends on tracking, timing, patience and guide skill. Good guides read footprints, behavior, weather, radio updates and terrain. They also know how to keep a respectful distance while still giving you a real wildlife encounter. That expertise is one of the biggest reasons to choose an Africa group tour.

Safari logistics are expensive to arrange alone

Park fees, 4WD vehicles, remote lodges, internal flights and permits can add up quickly. A group tour bundles many of these costs and removes the need to arrange them one by one. This is especially valuable in East and Southern Africa, where the best wildlife areas are often far from major cities.

Group travel helps control the cost

Africa can be one of the most expensive trips travelers take. Sharing vehicles, guides, fuel, park logistics and sometimes accommodation costs can lower the per-person price compared with a private safari. It will not make a safari “cheap,” but it can make a better safari more attainable.

Remote places become more accessible

The Serengeti, Maasai Mara, Okavango Delta, Bwindi, Etosha and parts of Namibia or Botswana are not places where casual logistics shine. Group tours open up areas that are difficult, costly or intimidating to reach independently, especially if you are short on time.

Safety and peace of mind matter

Many first-time visitors worry about road conditions, park rules, unfamiliar cities, health precautions and border logistics. A vetted group operator helps reduce those unknowns. You still need common sense, travel insurance and current advice, but you are not figuring everything out from scratch.

Solo travelers get companionship without giving up adventure

Africa group tours are especially useful for solo travelers. You share game drives, meals, lodge time and big moments without paying for an entirely private experience. Few things bond strangers faster than whispering at sunrise because someone has spotted leopard tracks.

This was a brilliant tour in every respect. Hery was one of the best trip leaders I've ever had. And the places we went and the things I saw made this a truly memorable trip of a lifetime. That said, it's not for everyone. Long days on bad roads were grueling, and some of the lodging was basic. But these things should not dissuade anyone from visiting this fascinating and beautiful country.

The whole experience was absolutely amazing. Accommodation was well thought out and the wild camping was well equipped with en-suite facilities. The itinerary was superb and we were surprised at how many of the animals we saw and at close quarter. Our tour leader was excellent his knowledge of the animal’s behaviour added to our experience. Our first safari but not our last would highly recommend.

This adventure has everything! Wildlife was amazing, lots of close encounters; beautiful accommodation, great food and a brilliant tour guide who was helpful friendly and could spot an animal no one else would have seen. I loved the variety of landscapes and environment which was also represented in the accommodation from intimate tent lodges to a stunning African lodge with warthogs, steenboks, monkeys and mongoose running around the lawn to a smaller colonial style guest lodge. This adventure does not disappoint!

Elephants and Hippos galore!

This was one of our best Exodus holidays. Canoeing down the Zambezi is such a wonderful experience. We saw hippos, elephants and crocodiles galore. The night sky was fantastic. Sitting chatting around the campfire at night, and also at breakfast, was lovely. The wildlife camping was more comfortable than I had expected. The tents are good quality, the sleeping mat is comfortable, (and doubles as cushioning on the canoe seats). A bowl of lovely hot water is provided each morning to wash with. The meals are lovely and generous and cooked with fresh produce. A hearty cooked breakfast is a perfect start to a day on the river.

Trip of a Lifetime

This safari exceeded every expectation. Exodus has created an outstanding itinerary that showcases the very best of Botswana and Zimbabwe, combining incredible wildlife encounters with comfortable lodges, knowledgeable guides, and unforgettable experiences. The wildlife viewing was simply exceptional and we were fortunate enough to witness some truly remarkable moments. The lodges were all unique, each with its own character, but every one was comfortable, welcoming and of excellent quality. The food was good and plentiful. We travelled with three couples and five solo travelers, and it was an absolute pleasure sharing this adventure with such wonderful people. The friendships, laughter and shared excitement added another special dimension to an already incredible experience.

We had an excellent trip. The itinerary is well thought out and covers all the classic things you want to see in Namibia, especially the dunes and game parks. .Our tour guide, Sheona, did an excellent job of telling us a lot about the country and nature and attending to everyone’s needs. We were a group that mixed well and had a lot of fun together. Our first stop was at Hammerstein Lodge, was a bit rough as we were plagued with bad weather: torrential rain, hail and snow in mid-June. This was an exception to the usual weather.. The heating in our rooms did not work. We all took it in stride as best we could. We were delighted as the accommodation only seemed to get better at each of the other stops. We did not see any lions, but we,were, lucky to be able to see rhinos and journeys of giraffes as well as some unusual things like an aardwolf and a jackal playing with its prey. I am convinced that every trip will have something unique and different on it.. The extra free day activity in Walvis Bay is highly recommended. We all signed up for it. We saw dolphins and a whale on our boat trip, but also had visits from seals and pelicans. Riding cars in the dunes by the sea was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the trip so much that I am considering doing it again.
