South Africa Tours in October 2027

A full on trip which maximised our time in South Africa. A really good balance of cultural insights, scenery and wildlife. This wouldn't have been possible without our super guide Christian. He knew how to keep us safe, was resolutely positive and energetic, and made the trip. There was a lot of driving which we knew about when we booked. If we had more annual leave available, we would have booked an extra night in Capetown at the end. This would have enabled us to book both a Robben Island excursion, and a Cape of Good Hope trip. We are very glad that we booked this trip.

We opted to do this over hiking Mt Kilimanjaro. So glad we did. I loved the variety of the wildlife and the hiking. The terrain was excellent with a good amount of challenge. Clifford our guide was fabulous. He pointed out the wildlife, gave us interesting information on all sorts of things and led our walks managing a range of abilities and speeds. We loved the trip and had an awesome time. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

The perfect blend of city life, adventure, and unforgettable safari experiences. Our Trip Manager, Sim, was outstanding—highly professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and an absolute blast to travel with. His expertise on each country we visited was unmatched, and no matter the question, he always had the answer. His ability to speak multiple languages made communication seamless with both locals and guides, adding so much depth to the experience. The safari guides were truly remarkable. Their talent for spotting wildlife—camouflaged in dense trees or hidden in the distance—was nothing short of impressive. Even with their help, I often needed extra direction just to see what they had already noticed! I would do this trip again in a heartbeat—ten times over.

Would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see Africa. It was absolutely amazing! Our Trip Manager is the most special thing to ever happen to Contiki, he cared about everyone in our group and we all loved him right back. TM was professional, approachable and inclusive also his knowledge of the local languages and history was fantastic. The accommodation is really good especially in Victoria Falls the resort is gorgeous. Activities like the game drives, village homestead tour and camping in Chobe National Park are spectacular once in a lifetime experience. In short, book the the trip because you won’t regret anything except when it’s time to come home!

The itinerary gave us an excellent run through of most of the fantastic sights in South Africa. The guide was informative and was a character. He was very informative and kept cool when dealing with any minor issues that cropped up throughout the holiday . The only minor issue I had was that the minibus used on the first 4 days of the holiday was too small for the number of people in the group. It was quite cramped. Just returned home from the 12 day Intro Tour in South Africa and wow what an amazing experience it was! From start to finish the tour was so efficiently planned out. Our group leader was Dan and his proactiveness and willingness to go above and beyond really eased the whole process for a first time solo traveller; messaging about transport options from the airport, daily packing lists and itinerary reminders, as well as being a really enthusiastic and fun guy. His love for South Africa shone through and made our experience incredible. As well as that we had a local guide called Liezl whos knowledge on her country was next to none, regularly providing story times on the bus and cultural facts as well as her love for birds on the game drives haha! She also went above and beyond in making the trip both memorable and informative. The overall trip itinerary was perfect! Starting off with the important history of South Africa in Johannesburg which set the scene for the trip before travelling round on game drives and seeing all the amazing wildlife South Africa has, truly a once in a lifetime experience. The culture in South Africa is really incredible and the locals loved putting on performances for us and getting us involved. And finally we arrived in Cape Town, which stole my heart. The most beautiful city on earth! South Africa I will be back and Intro Travel, thank you for making this trip all that it is!
