South Africa 6-Day Tour Reviews
Honest insights from past guests on our 6-Day South Africa tours
Great time BUT needed two more days to really see Cape a town. Willing to pay more as the journey getting there was VERY long and CTown deserved more time.
Truly unforgettable experience with a fantastic guide (Matt) who is informative, humourous, easy going and friendly. The safari drives were magical and we managed to see 4 of the big 5 as well as many of species of animals. The day of sightseeing at Blyde River and Bourke's Luck is also pretty spectacular. The accommodation and meals were of a decent standard and the coach was comfortable enough. Highly recommended.
from start to end everything was beyond superb the drive although taking most of the day was broken up at excellent locations, the Petroport where a ‘taste of things to come’ in terms of wildlife could be viewed and in the pretty town of Dullstroom where I got to put my very limited Afrikaans to use the safari lodge is beautiful and relaxing, the staff all so kind and beyond helpful, Riye on reception gave us such a lovely welcome, all of the staff that i encountered were beyond kind and helpful, they truly treated you as part of ‘the family’ all of the game drives and excursions were educational, informative and breathtaking every guide that I had the fortune to meet was so knowledgeable and wanted to make sure we enjoyed every moment with them and even helped me track down a store to purchase a replacement ‘Cabin Bag’ as mine decided to break Momma D you will never be forgotten, your cooking and beautiful personality will be very much missed
Highlights - Watching the stunning scenery roll by, tea & scones in charming Matjiesfontein, Prince Albert, Victoria Beach, Monkeyland, Plettenberg Bay, Storms River Mouth walk, and accommodation. Phillip was an attentive and knowledgeable guide. Relaxed and very professional. Good sense of humour.
Contiki was amazing! It was my first contiki experience and our trip leader Sim made it so wonderful! I met amazing people and saw such a beautiful country. Our driver was so kind. I cant wait to travel again! All of our hotels and excursions were insane and so clean and fun
If you're debating this trip like I was, do yourself a favour and book. So much is covered in just one week, it's very go go go. You can go to mountain tops, beaches, wineries, safaris, sanctuaries, and local townships. So there really is something for everyone, and you get to see so many different sides of South Africa. Even the pit stops along the way were some of my favourite moments - some eateries were stunning and you get the chance to spend your money supporting small family businesses and organizations, like home animal sanctuaries. However, I will note that most activities are not covered in the price for this trip so plan ahead, so expect to spend a lot more than what you are quoted. Plan ahead and see what you want to do. If you opt out of most of these, you will likely tag along with the group to the location but do nothing, or you might stay in the accommodation. Do both safari drives if you can, the game reserves themselves are gorgeous and the experience is once in a lifetime. The cooking class was fun and delicious stuff too. The biking on day one is harder than you might think, the route is very bumpy and steep... it's pretty, but be prepared! Also, the township visit was a good opportunity to respectfully learn of the community and contribute meaningfully. The elephant park was cool but driving around inside the contiki bus kind of took away. Bus drives weren't too bad, most of the time you get some pretty amazing views along the garden route. All the accommodation were pretty, nice and comfortable. My trip manager and bus driver were also beautiful people who made sure we felt safe, comfortable, and accommodated throughout our time there. was so knowledgeable and such a good time, I definitely felt lucky to have him.
