Sea Safari South Africa was an unforgettable trip! The wildlife encounters were incredible, and seeing elephant calves and lion cubs up close was such a highlight. Our tour manager was not only professional but also incredibly knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. I also really enjoyed the surfing, kayaking, and cooking class free time add-ons. That said, there are a few things to be aware of. The itinerary includes quite a bit of bus travel, and much of the trip revolves around free time add-ons. If you choose not to take part in a free time add-on, there isn’t always a great alternative for free time, so I’d recommend budgeting with that in mind. The upside is that the add-ons are excellent and definitely feel worthwhile. Personally, I would have loved to see a couple more game drives and dinners included, particularly during the Eswatini portion of the trip. Most accommodations offer Wi-Fi, though at Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary it is capped at 500 MB and only available in the dining area. At Kruger National Park there is no Wi-Fi and very limited cell service, so it’s best to plan ahead. I also recommend setting aside a few days in Cape Town before the tour begins, as there’s very little time built into the itinerary to explore the city otherwise. Overall, a fantastic trip!

Brilliant trip with a wide range of different activities and scenery to be seen. Hotels were all really clean and good, food was fantastic throughout the stay in South Africa. Only one comment to make on the flying to johannasberg then a lot of travelling the next couple of days with out as many activities. I think it’s been talked about flying into Durban for future tours.

Well thought out trip, you definitely get to see almost all the South African highlights in a quick time frame. I would definitely budget to do all the add on activities because they are so worth the money. A great first solo trip to Africa for me!

If you're debating this trip like I was, do yourself a favour and book. So much is covered in just one week, it's very go go go. You can go to mountain tops, beaches, wineries, safaris, sanctuaries, and local townships. So there really is something for everyone, and you get to see so many different sides of South Africa. Even the pit stops along the way were some of my favourite moments - some eateries were stunning and you get the chance to spend your money supporting small family businesses and organizations, like home animal sanctuaries. However, I will note that most activities are not covered in the price for this trip so plan ahead, so expect to spend a lot more than what you are quoted. Plan ahead and see what you want to do. If you opt out of most of these, you will likely tag along with the group to the location but do nothing, or you might stay in the accommodation. Do both safari drives if you can, the game reserves themselves are gorgeous and the experience is once in a lifetime. The cooking class was fun and delicious stuff too. The biking on day one is harder than you might think, the route is very bumpy and steep... it's pretty, but be prepared! Also, the township visit was a good opportunity to respectfully learn of the community and contribute meaningfully. The elephant park was cool but driving around inside the contiki bus kind of took away. Bus drives weren't too bad, most of the time you get some pretty amazing views along the garden route. All the accommodation were pretty, nice and comfortable. My trip manager and bus driver were also beautiful people who made sure we felt safe, comfortable, and accommodated throughout our time there. was so knowledgeable and such a good time, I definitely felt lucky to have him.

Travel Tips for Beach Tours in South Africa

  • The best time to visit the beaches in South Africa varies by region. However, the summer months (November-February) are a popular choice for many beach-goers. Consider your destination and planned activities when deciding the best time for your visit.
  • Swimming in the waters of the west coast of South Africa can be chilly in winter (May-August), with average temperatures 5-6°C cooler than in summer. For a comfortable experience, it is recommended to wear a wetsuit if you plan on swimming during these cooler months.
  • Be vigilant about rip currents, especially on open ocean beaches, and swim within demarcated areas wherever they are set up. Powerful seaward currents can quickly pull swimmers out to deeper waters. If caught in a rip current, don't fight it. Swim parallel to the shore until you're out of the current, then head back to the beach.
  • Be aware of wildlife, particularly on beaches near nature reserves. Do not feed or attempt to interact with the animals, such as baboons.
  • If you combine your beach vacation with whale watching, the best time to visit the Western Cape, especially Hermanus, is between June and November when Southern right whales come close to the shore.
  • Don't miss the spectacular Sardine Run, a natural phenomenon between June and July along the KwaZulu-Natal coast and the Eastern Cape. This mass migration of sardines attracts a variety of marine predators, creating an unparalleled underwater spectacle.
