Overall really good trip, great activities for the most part the safari at Kruger and Schotia the best. The kayaking was a bit disappointing as an activity, the duration was shorter than expected. The amount of driving was greater than expected, this will be reduced when the flight is changed to arrive in Durban rather than Johannesburg. Overall all accomodation and food was great.

I just wrapped up a Contiki tour through South Africa, and it was genuinely one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. The itinerary was the perfect mix of adventure and culture—one day we were spotting the Big Five on safari, the next we were taking in the views in Cape Town. Our trip manager () was an absolute legend, organized, knowledgeable, and always ready to hype up the group. The accommodations were comfortable, the activities were well-planned, and the optional add-ons were totally worth it. But honestly, the best part was the group energy. By the end, it felt like traveling with a bunch of friends you somehow just met but instantly clicked with. This trip was life changing. The opportunity to see so much of the continent through amazing excursions and with like-minded people was incredible. The trip really exceeded all of my expectations! We had a brilliant guide in Sam who was friendly, fun, caring, very well organised and very knowledgeable. Start to finish this was a fantastic trip. Our guide Clifford shared his deep knowledge of everything: animals and birds, trees and flowers, South African history and culture, hiking trail specifics and the smallest details about life in South Africa and Eswatini. Plus he was caring and kind and fun to be with. I really feel like I gained an understanding of the real South Africa because of Clifford and also the variety of experiences on this trip. We saw all the animals we had hoped to see, the hiking was challenging and extremely rewarding. The Drackensburg hikes were exceptional - scenery that is so beautiful that words and pictures cannot capture it. Even being there, on top of the "Amphitheatre", the grandeur, the immensity of the views, were impossible to truly fathom. Wow.

I literally cannot find the words to express how incredible this trip was for me. 15 days of adventure, fun, adrenaline with meeting some of the best people I have ever met. We started as strangers and we left as really close friends. Our Trip Manager made it unforgettable and went above and beyond to make the trip run as smooth as possible for us. Africa is one of the best places I have ever visited and I can’t wait to return with my two sons and husband in the future. It just has so much to offer and I wouldn’t have done it any other way without Contiki. I traveled with my best friend and cousin and the three of us had such a good time. I do recommend taking any second hand clothes or stationary for the families of the township in Cape Town that you wish to donate. I wish I had known more about the townships and how very little they have in life. Really recommend using the card and app Wise as well for multiple country currencies while there. A few hotels are cash less but in saying that very good to have cash for tipping the locals if you want to. Africa definitely changes your perspective with some things in life and I feel very privileged to be able to see it the way we did. I travelled in October and the weather was perfect, warm further north we went, cooler in Cape Town. The animals and the wildlife in the national parks are just out of this world. We saw the big 5 within 2 hours of being at Kruger National Park. Was just mind-blowing and amazing to see them the way we did. Pack a rain jacket, pack binoculars, pack a head torch and neutral safari clothes. Thanks , thanks Contiki!!
