Croatia Bicycle Trips

Bike and Sail Croatia exceeded our expectations. From checking in on day one to leaving on day eight, everything went smoothly. Even adverse wind conditions were handled by the crew, who altered the itinerary on the go to make it all happen. The guides, sailors, cooks and Captain made the holiday as good as it could have been.

The Dalmatian coast cycling trip was a beautiful adventure through the Croatian islands and mainland. David, the guide, was an expert at leading a large group with varying skill and focused on safety while also having fun. The coffee and lunch stops were in intriguing towns with interesting things to see. I wish we would have only made one stop per day, though, so there was more time to spend in one place. Often times we’d get to a town and have to choose between eating and sightseeing because there wasn’t time for both. The first hotel was very nice, the ones after left a bit to be desired. All breakfasts were delicious with a lot of variety. It should be noted that if you are not at least a somewhat avid cyclist, this trip is not for you. There were very inexperienced cyclists on this trip who were scared to death of descending and had no fitness for the longer climbs. It made it very difficult to keep a group of 16 together, and the lack of experience riding on roads was a detriment to the group. I must say David handled it all with poise and patience, but I am shocked at the inexperienced folks that signed up for this trip.

I think the Explore part of the experience was outstanding, especially with David our leader and Zoran our support and logistics superman. What was not so high on my list were the accommodations. There were issues with air conditioning not working, a bed mattress that was slanted and very hard from use and the hotel on Hvar was step city, with breakfast 100 meters away and down a hill. Plus, having to shlep our luggage up a hill for 50 meters and the another 60 or so meters to the reception building from our rooms. That was a joke.

Excellent trip. Good group who managed the whole week of cycling. David and Zoran were fantastic tour guide and technical support and easily managed all the unexpected difficulties with ease and without disruption to the group. Some hotels were tired and in need of updating but clean and functional

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6-day cycle around Istria in May. The hills gave a little challenge but the rewards were many with great sweeping descents and amazing scenery. Then the coastal rides offered the opportunity to take a dip in the Adriatic and visit beautiful towns like Rovinj. The hotels were all excellent with great hospitality and food. I would definitely recommend them and hope to have another cycle or hiking trip in the future.

My First time with Explore, & it didn’t disappoint, from the booking process to the well organised staff at the end of the phone & also the Explore App.. I cycled the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia, what a ride, truly awesome, The ride Leader David was Brilliant, gave us all the information we needed so we knew what to expect for each days riding but also throughout the ride to keep us safe & fully informed, not just about the ride route but interesting historical information. Also the back up with Boza behind us all the way, from Mechanical support or food & drink to keep us going. & transport the bikes & luggage to the next destination, made the trip stress free. Also David planning for the Lunch stop or Evenings together. The what’s App group to keep us all informed of times & meeting points.. i can highly recommend Explore & will definitely be booking with them again, & Croatia is stunning, & the people are so welcoming.One of the ladies in my group has been travelling with Explore for 40yrs, it’s a great way to meet people especially if yr on yr own. For me 10/10 🤩👍
