Itinerary

Feel the sea breeze as you discover Croatia’s legendary coastline on the "Cycle the Dalmatian Coast" tour. Perfect for experienced travelers seeking a moderately active escape, this eight-day cycling adventure winds through ancient towns, island vineyards, and sparkling Adriatic waters.

Start your journey in Kastel Kambelovac, then pedal through medieval Split, the sun-kissed landscapes of Hvar, and the storied hills of Korčula. Each ride is an opportunity to explore local wineries, relax on beautiful beaches, and refuel at traditional seaside restaurants.

Historic Dubrovnik and Split invite you off the bike to uncover their rich pasts, while picturesque fishing villages and lush countryside provide scenic backdrops for every stage. The variety of terrain and cultural stops make this trip as rewarding as it is invigorating.

What makes this tour package unique is its perfect blend of activity, heritage, and gastronomy—an immersive way to experience Croatia’s most famous coastlines and hidden gems, all at a cyclist’s pace.

day 1Join trip in Kastel Kambelovac

Arrive in the seaside town Kastel Kambelovac, 10 kilometres from Split. Our seafront hotel is ideally located with great views over the bay and is easy to reach from the airport as well as Split town and Trogir. For those arriving in time, our tour leader plans to meet you in the hotel reception at 7pm for the welcome meeting and for those that wish, there'll be the chance to go out for dinner. There are no other activities planned today, so you're free to arrive in Kastel Kambelovac at any time. If you'd like an airport transfer, you'll need to arrive into Split Airport (SPU), which is around a 15-minute drive from Kastel Kambelovac. Should you miss the welcome meeting, your tour leader will catch you up as soon as possible. If your flight arrives earlier in the day, you might like to check in to the hotel and then head to the nearby medieval harbour town of Trogir, wander the cobbled streets and visit Saint Lawrence Cathedral. Alternatively, you may wish to take advantage of the beach in front of the hotel - the restaurant there serves up tasty traditional dishes.

My first trip with Explore and first time cycling abroad. I loved it. It was easy to book and the information prior to and during the trip, via the App, was comprehensive and clear. The tour guide was excellent. The accommodation was a bit basic but what I expected. It wasn’t missold and perfectly adequate.

Well organised and the group was lead by a very professional local leader. He keep our safety and understanding of the terrain and road networks as paramount. His knowledge of the local history and the viewpoints was very good. He was calm and kept us assured and up-to-date throughout each day and had a good sense of humour but allowed the group to Bond and we worked very well as a team looking after each other. The itinerary was really good and we got to see most aspects of the islands and of the country with some really spectacular views and exquisite seaside locations . He was assisted by a cycling mechanic and driver who complimented the leader and they work together as a good team. Nothing was any trouble for them. It was a great holiday.🙂

The Dalmatian coast cycling trip was a beautiful adventure through the Croatian islands and mainland. David, the guide, was an expert at leading a large group with varying skill and focused on safety while also having fun. The coffee and lunch stops were in intriguing towns with interesting things to see. I wish we would have only made one stop per day, though, so there was more time to spend in one place. Often times we’d get to a town and have to choose between eating and sightseeing because there wasn’t time for both. The first hotel was very nice, the ones after left a bit to be desired. All breakfasts were delicious with a lot of variety. It should be noted that if you are not at least a somewhat avid cyclist, this trip is not for you. There were very inexperienced cyclists on this trip who were scared to death of descending and had no fitness for the longer climbs. It made it very difficult to keep a group of 16 together, and the lack of experience riding on roads was a detriment to the group. I must say David handled it all with poise and patience, but I am shocked at the inexperienced folks that signed up for this trip.
