Excellent trip featuring the highlights of Northern Croatia. From the stunning National Parks to the beautiful coast. Well organised itinerary with a good balance of organised activities and free time. Unfortunately the weather was a little unkind in the middle of the trip so we couldn’t complete some of the intended walks, but our fantastic tour leader Ivica came up with some alternatives to make the most of our time. Accomodation was very good. Spacious and modern rooms. Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfasts. Great locations. Would highly recommended for anyone that likes to get into nature and explore what this beautiful country has to offer.

Walking Croatia: Islands and Mountains

A wonderful experience with a kind, respectful and experienced hiker and guide. Enough varied terrain and experiences. One hotel was problematic with the shower, but other participants didn't have this problem. The last hotel was the best with more comfort and amazing breakfasts....a treat worth working for by the end of the trip.

My wife and I eally enjoyed the Historic trip across 5 countries. Our Europamundo guide from Bulgaria to Dubravnik, Ms Bilyana Shirokanska was a very caring guide. She made sure the oldest and the only English speaking couple were looked after well, that we undeestood everything and did not get lost.

I was on Balkans Escape with Tom. He was incredible and I would highly recommend as a tour manager! Also the Coach Driver was so friendly and made me feel safe! As for the tour, would highly recommend for anyone who wants to travel to places unlike any else. Budapest, Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik, Ston Ljubljana and ALL the others…each town/city was unique and beautiful! arranged for us to do an incredible wine tasting experience in Radovljica which I would recommend to be added as a Free Time Add-On

Travel Tips for Walking Tours in Croatia

  • Avoid hiking the mountain trails during winter. Despite Croatia’s reputation as a warm, coastal country, temperature during the winter can drop below the freezing point during the cold months.
  • Opt for Croatia walking tours in the shoulder season. May, September and October are ideal if you prefer cooler temperatures and low tourist crowds.
  • Make sure you get a paper map from a local tourist information office before hitting the trails, especially along the coast where phone signals can be spotty.
  • Look out for free walking tours in major cities like Split and Dubrovnik. Many hostels and hotels offer free local tours.
  • Make sure you bring clothes that you can layer and a windbreaker if you are hiking along the Dalmatian Coast. The breeze across the Mediterranean can be pretty intense.
