Croatia Self-Guided Tours and Trips

We’ve done a few self-drive trips before, but this one across Croatia and Slovenia? One for the books. First off, the route is genius. You start strong in Dubrovnik — the kind of place that just knocks the wind out of you. That view from the city walls? Unreal. The rental car setup was smooth, and driving in Croatia was easier than we expected, thanks tp great signages. Split was a big favorite, felt lively and ancient at the same time. And Plitvice Lakes? We thought we'd seen some beautiful parks in our time, but those waterfalls are something else. Just go early.. the crowds are real. Slovenia was a lovely surprise. Postojna Caves felt like another planet and Lake Bled too. Ljubljana and Zagreb had that easy-going charm we weren’t expecting. We liked having the freedom to stop when we wanted. Tiny roadside bakeries, scenic detours, coastal towns we hadn’t even heard of. That’s the magic of a self-drive tour. All in all, great mix of history, nature, and freedom. If you like doing your own thing but with a solid plan in place, this one’s a winner.

We really enjoyed the cycling in Istria. The roads were in great shape for road bikes and had very little traffic except getting in and out of Pula which is to be expected. There were lots of places to stop for cappuccino, snacks and lunch, bikes were a perfect way to visit so many villages in the hills and on the coast. The hotels were great with variety from resort style hotels to boutique hotels in the old towns. The luggage transfer was smooth. We were given maps, an app and gpx files so we were never in danger of getting lost.

Amazing Trip!! Accommodations, and transport from island to island were amazing. Food was spectacular. Even the weather was cooperating. I have never seen such blue skies and water. Totally captivating

Went on a 11 days island Hopping in September. We travelled around the islands close to Split. Swam and sightseeing each day. You can visit many places as I did or just stay on the boat and relax. The staff crew and guides were super friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and return again one day.

Getting the chance to see so many different parts of Croatia,exspecially the islands that sometimes are tough to reach without a professional organization, it was a beautiful and varied itinerary that helped us to see the most highlights of the country. Many thanks Gulliver Team!
