Itinerary was full on, you would never see the amount we saw if you would do the trip yourself. Was a well organised trip, had a lot of fun and lots of laughter. Will never forget the memories that we made. A must if you are wanting to see plenty and meet and experience new things every day.
This was a truly amazing trip for us..Our tour host Ilya was amazing along with our Bus driver ..we highly recommended Trafalgar
Excellent schedule and well coordinated.
We had the best experience. Our tour guide Ilja was the absolute best. I cannot say enough nice things about her (and our driver Simone!) Ilja went out of her way to make this trip unbelievably memorable. We got to see so much in the time we were there. We can’t wait to take our next trip!!
It was the perfect length trip for our family.
The itinerary was fast paced but allowed you to see multiple sites in one day. It is very impressive how much the tour included but after 4 days were a bit exhausted. The meals I would say could have been better in the hotels, particularly the one in Assisi. This hotel was very nice bout the meal was meh and the staff serving us was quite rude. Meals in restaurants were good. Breakfasts in the Rome hotel in beginning and the two after that served powdered eggs, which were not good. Real eggs were served at subsequent hotels and made the breakfasts much better. Our tour director Sarah and driver Enzo were incredible. We pre paid the gratuity but gave them extra at the end because they worked tirelessly to make sure every experience was amazing. We have already recommended Trafalger to our friends! We are looking at other tours for the following year.
Packed itinerary with stops in major cities and minor (incredible!!) towns as well. We saw SO much in 10 days. Our guide and driver were simply the BEST, we can’t say enough about them. made sure each day was special & memorable. They were very organized and accommodating. Be prepared to walk A LOT (and quickly!) everyday on cobbled streets - Im not sure how someone with physical limitations would enjoy this trip. But if you are up for it - you WONT regret taking this adventure!
a wonderful itinerary. saw so much of italy and was amazing. llja and simone were the best. their knowledge was unmatched by anyone. if i decide to do another tour i would hope i could go with them again. thanks for the wonderful trip👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻
My wife and I took this trip with the expectation of experiencing Italy. You did not disappoint. We went to may places, did a lot of walking, and got to see many historical landmark. This was our second Trafalgar trip and we'll take another. Our tour guide had outstanding knowledge of each city we visited and even some along the way that were not on our itinerary. Great job!!
Well organized tour and very comfortable coach, with excellent tour guide and driver. Site guides were knowledgeable and prepared. A wonderful experience
Very good itinerary loaded with many places to see, both well known and some lesser known. This was my first guided tour as we usually will tour on our own and at our own pace. The schedule was full and busy. In one or two stops we could have used a little more time but the itinerary was excellent to see the highlights that we did. Staying two nights per hotel at all but one hotel was good. Personal experience with lunch at a family vineyard great. Trafalgar did an excellent job to avoid crowds when possible.
This was my first group tour and my first experience with Trafalgar, and overall, it was a wonderful journey. However, if possible, I would have appreciated a more "hands-on" approach. For instance, during our visits to both the gold jewelry shop and the leather shop, I was hoping to learn more about the craftsmanship behind making gold jewelry and leather bags. Instead, these stops felt more focused on shopping rather than offering an opportunity for deeper engagement with the craft.
Great group, itinerary, and tour guide. Italy is amazing and the tour is well planned
Wonderful trip… well planned, great hotel and excellent food. The travel guide ()) and the bus driver () made it extra special. We saw and experienced so much in the time frame. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see and experience the Italian culture. Do all the options you can… they are worth every penny for what you get.
The experience was more than I expected. We had a lot of fun interacting with the group. was amazing!
Great trip! It was full of tours of new areas all around Italy. Our Tour Guide , and bus driver were both great. I took this tour with my daughter and this was her first trip outside USA and this was a perfect introduction trip for her.
It was fantastic , great range of different things to do , bus driver was dressed immaculate each day , a very good driver , tour guide was amazing, full of information , always there for us , i would definitely recommend these two to friends and family 😀
Saw many highlights of Italy. The walking tours, hotels, dinners were all first class and beyond expectations. Our bus guide (tour organiser) and coach driver were exceptional. We would recommend this tour to all!❤️
It was worth every penny! I highly recommend it to anyone. Great pace, never felt rushed. They were very accommodating. I give it an A+ !!
Good itinerary, good size group. Good tour director. Would have been nice to not have to pay single supplement or at best pay a discount for single supplement. Will look for ‘ no single supplement’ tours going forward
This was a 10 ten day tour so it was fast paced. I would have preferred day one in Rome be split in two tours would have made that day more tolerable. Also it should be noted there is a lot of walking so it may be challenging for some. The optional experiences were worth the money. Also our tour guide was excellent he provided informative background on the toured areas. I would rate hotels as good some were better than others. All in all it was a great experience and I loved Italy
It was a great experience, well planned, some time exhausting, but because of the heat,
Our guide Victor Cini was outstanding he was very knowledgeable and his experience shined through. Our driver Bruno did a fantastic job. We experienced so much without feeling rushed. The family vineyard experience was excellent.
Everybody that we interacted with during the trip was excellent. Our tour director was very knowledgeable on a huge variety of information, approachable, and great at leading a group of people who had previously never met and had a wide range of needs and desires from the trip. Our driver did a great job of getting us around safely, including an unexpectedly long day due to road closures and heavy traffic. The local guides did a fantastic job of giving additional detail and texture to the places we visited, and touched on unique themes that were relevant to each city so there was little overlap between them. That said, I had a difficult time before the trip getting more detailed information to help determine what we would actually do in each city, which optional experiences to do, and when we might have time to sightsee on our own. In general, the trip did a great job of meeting a lot of different needs at the same time. Given the various types of needs (dietary, mobility, interest, etc.) among the group, Trafalgar did a great job of setting up a trip that managed to include everybody as much as possible, with the acknowledgement that there were some things that were simply beyond their control due to the realities of the locations. The logistics were structured in a way to keep everybody safe, comfortable, and included, from first-time solo travelers to well-traveled groups. At the start of the trip our guide said that we will start as strangers and end as family, and that really felt true after all of our shared experiences. I found that the itinerary tried to see too many places in too little time, which resulted in a lot of time moving from one place to the next with minimal time to actually enjoy and explore the places we visited. The smaller cities often amounted to little more than a lunch stop, with about 75-90 minutes to eat and do any sightseeing before getting back on the coach to continue onward. I would have preferred to visit half as many places and spend more time in each and really get to appreciate what they had to offer, rather than the whirlwind approach that we took. By the end of the trip I felt like I ‘saw’ a lot of things, but got to truly experience relatively few of them in a meaningful way. Additionally, the daily schedules typically required waking up early (6-7am) to accommodate the long travel days, but were finished by around 5pm. If the midday stops had been an hour or two longer, we could have seen a lot more of each city (allowing time for both eating and sightseeing), while still making it to the destination at a reasonable time. This was especially frustrating in Lucca, which was a lovely city where we spent 2 nights, but only had about an hour for lunch and an hour walking tour in the city itself, but no additional time to sightsee or shop on our own due to the schedule timing and hotel location. The hotels were all pretty nice and comfortable, with no major complaints about the quality of them. The locations, however, were just far enough from the city center that it made it very difficult to branch out on our own during any free time. While this was a result of the size of the group and needing motorcoach access, it often limited our sightseeing time and overall flexibility; there were several times with a couple hours of scheduled downtime at the hotel that could have been used for additional sightseeing, had the hotels been more conveniently located. The included and add-on meals were fine, but we generally had better meals when we ate on our own. The hotels breakfasts were standard Italian-style breakfasts, and were nearly identical from one hotel to the next; several people complained about the scrambled eggs at various hotels, but the local items (sliced meats and cheeses, bread, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt & cereal, etc.) were all good. The “be our guest” lunch at the farm was fantastic, with lovely hosts, delicious food and wine, and a spectacular setting that ended up being one of the highlights of the trip as a whole. If you want to see a lot of places in limited time without having to worry about any of the logistics, this is a great trip. If you want to have time to actually explore and experience the places you’re visiting (particularly if that means branching off from the group to do it on your own), perhaps another approach would be more to your liking. The trip that Trafalgar created successfully makes travel approachable, easy, and fun, with a lot of great moments along the way.
It was very organized, which made any and all logistics worry free...
We had a wonderful experience with Trafalgar. The Tour director was fantastic and so organized and helpful. We also had a wonderful bus driver and the travel arrangements and all the tours went very smoothly every day. Every detail was taken care of for us and all we had to do was enjoy the experience. EXCELLENT!
We got to see a lot of the “must sees” of Italy and didn’t feel rushed at any of our excursions. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable!!
We traveled to Rome and began the Trafalgar tour. We were not particularly impressed with Trafalgar. The additional optional meals, activities, and other 'add-ons' on the trip were extensive and frustrating, as they rarely were actually optional in practice. For example, when a couple decided not to attend an optional dinner, which had to be decided on in advance, they found there were no other dinner options in the area, so frantically had to be included last minute. If it is "optional", there should be other options. Several of the locations listed in the itinerary as where we would be staying were simply incorrect. We did not stay in Lucca, for example, as listed on the itinerary, but rather walked 40 minutes from Lucca and passed the 'leaving Lucca' sign to get to the hotel. We did not stay in Assisi, as was listed on the itinerary, but an adjacent town (not walkable). We did not stay in Venice, as listed on the itinerary, but in Lido. To get to Venice on our own we paid a water bus which would have been difficult for most people on the tour to manage. Communication was excellent in some regards and terrible in others. In Lido when we arrived we were on our own for dinner, but everywhere we went did not take people without reservations. Had anything about Lido been communicated in advance, we could have planned for this. In Venice we had 'down time' during which my father wanted to go into Saint Mark's Basilica and we would have had time to do so, had we had reservations, but again, it was not communicated that this needed to be done weeks in advance. Without knowing the details of the Trafalgar itinerary it was difficult to plan for these things, and without accurate communication from Trafalgar, it was impossible. The only extensive communication Trafalgar supplied on the trip was details about the optional experiences. We did think most of the dinners that were optional were good value, especially for people who enjoy drinks with their meals. In terms of excursions both optional and included there was also a lack of communication. In Rome the itinerary said we would be at the Roman Forum and 'see the Coliseum area'. So we booked and purchased a separate tour on our arrival day for entering the Coliseum. Then when we joined the Trafalgar Tour the next day we did NOT go to the Roman Forum at all but DID go in the Coliseum. Everyone else on our tour was also confused. We certainly aren't upset about seeing the Coliseum twice but we could have saved a lot of money and timing stress by not paying for an additional tour. Then for an optional tour in Florence the itinerary stated there would be two options depending on which day we were there. (The building that holds the original David statue is closed Mondays.) We were not going there on a Monday and were looking forward to seeing it (as we have been before.) But then we found out that not only was that option not available during our tour, but our director said they don't even offer it anymore. This is despite the fact that it was listed as an option during our arrival, even. We did the other optional tour which was fine, but the lack of communication about the availability or possibility of this optional tour was disappointing. There were constant emails on plans changing due to the Jubilee or energy costs, but to be told this was just something they don't even do anymore while on the bus on our way to Florence, was frustrating, as this was clearly not an unforseen circumstance. In addition, Trafalgar says that it takes American Express. However, the machine they sent with our tour director to accept payments on the trip did not actually accept American Express cards. While we managed, it was a source of stress that was entirely avoidable had they just been honest about which cards they do and do not take for their payments. This may be useful information for travelers to know. My husband and I have done a significantly less expensive bus tour in Italy previously and were much happier with the communication, quality, and value of that tour. Trafalgar's prices made us expect good things, and we were disappointed. Italy is wonderful as a travel location and I will always recommend people visit, but now I will also always dissuade people from using Trafalgar if there are other options available. Some other information about the Trafalgar experience. Local guides varied; Some were excellent. Some were just fine. The bus drivers were excellent. It was nice not to worry about our bags. There was a 'Be our Guest' lunch included which was the highlight of the entire part of the trip. This was amazing. The included breakfasts were fine. One included supper was so terrible it would have been disappointing in a school cafeteria buffet here, let alone on an expensive trip to Italy. The other included dinners were fine or fairly good. If people have never traveled before and want to see Italy, a bus tour is the best way to go. There are just better options than Trafalgar. The quality just wasn't there, with the exception of the 'Be Our Guest' lunch. THAT was the quality I expected from Trafalgar. We still had a great time, and still loved Italy. We just didn't love Trafalgar. Please let me know if you have any questions.
We never have been to Italy before, so this was the perfect trip for us. We saw so many wonderful places and our tour director *personal info removed by Feefo* was so informed. He made travel effortless for us.
Hi there , I had great time visiting Italy and learning history. Meeting new people and entertainment was perfect. We were given enough free time in most of the places. Restaurants visits were ok. Food was very poorly organized especially the 2nd restaurants in Rome day 2.. Very cheap wine was served and most of the people sent it back . At this restaurant also sitting was very poor and left us very uncomfortable for 2 hrs. Most of the restaurants had issues with food could have been better. Tour director was fun and entertaining at times but also was rude and snobbish and especially women traveller's hesitated to talk to him. Gondola rides were mostly felt like scam and money grab as we were 2 and didn't want to share ride with anyone and had to pay lot extra money just for 20 minutes as we were told ride was 30 minutes. It was waste of money and when we inquired outside it costed half the amount. It was very disappointing 😞 Thanks
Very well thought tour with knowledgeable tour guide and local specialists. Their expertise in the locations visited made the trip memorable. There was a good balance between an informative excursion with a specialist/tour guide and down time to wander on your own. Would book another vacation with Trafalgar.
Excellent trip, well organized and with good choices of venues to visit. Our tour guide was wonderful!
Fast paced….lots of walking and stairs! Food was fabulous wherever we were taken. Wine tastings were amazing. Every spot we were taken to was mind-blowing. I want to go again and expand on what I saw and experienced. Trafalgar’s host for our tour was out of this world good!!!! The driver…. was outstanding!!!
The trip was amazing our tour guide and our driver were excellent and made the trip stress free. We saw so much of Italy north of Rome and received so much local knowledge from and some local experts. Accommodation, food and experiences were fantastic- I can recommend this trip to anyone who wants a fun filled , informative holiday. Be prepared to be active but thoroughly looked after for the whole trip. Loved Italy and our tour experience
Very busy with very little time to explore on your own. There were places (Lucca especially) that I would have liked to walk around for longer. Also, most hotels were not very walkable to the main part of any of the cities we were in. (our director) was absolutely wonderful.
