Discover the wonders of Machu Picchu with a scenic train journey from Poroy to Aguas Calientes, culminating in an immersive tour of this iconic World Heritage Site. Overview
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from the hotel in Cusco, to go towards the train station located in Poroy with our private transport. You will board the train, and have a 3-hour journey to the train station of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will take the bus until the entrance of the wonderful Citadel of Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu means “Old Mountain”, and is located 80 miles on the northeast of the city of Cusco, in the Peruvian Andes Mountain Range, surrounded by the River Vilcanota. The citadel was built by the Inca Pachacutec between 1400 and 1500 A.D., being the exclusive housing of Inca aristocracy. Machu Picchu is located in a subtropical area with different microclimates, and has an altitude of 2430 M.A.S.L.
You will enjoy a 2-hour guided tour, exploring this awesome archeological site, also known as The Lost City of the Incas. This place has an important local flora and fauna, surrounded by different types of orchids, and tree forests. Also, in this area lives insects, mammals, and birds as the “Gallito de las Rocas”, declared the Peruvian national bird.
Enjoy your free time in Machu Picchu, take pictures or if you are brave you can climb Huayna Picchu (optional), and admire the entire citadel around. Also, you have the option to back to Aguas Calientes and have lunch (optional).
Declared as a World Heritage Site, Machu Picchu has incredible landscapes, and it was the main place of Inca’s farming, and the most important urban place from the Incan Empire. Connected by different roads, known as Inca Trails, as the best way to promote trade throughout the Inca Empire territory. This place was the main residence of Inca Pachacutec and his family.
At the arrange time, you should arrive at the train station of Aguas Calientes to get back to Cusco City, arriving to the train station of Poroy first, and take our private transport to the hotel.
