Taste of Italy tour is exactly what it is a taste, you will definitely be back and do another Italian tour because you will fall in love with this beautiful country! It was my first tour ever and I had no expectations, however I was blown away by the care and information we were given by Moona and our driver Mauricio throughout our tour. I highly recommend it and be prepared to do lots of steps! Ensure you do the additional excursions and take the opportunity of every stops and visit the duomos, they were the highlights! I will be back to do the south Italy part of the tour.
A great memory to last forever.
Our Tour leader Cate Dos was really friendly, gave us extra information and made the tour entertaining and just very memorable. Our driver Nico was also very good and got us everywhere safely and expertly. We really enjoyed the way the tour was put together and all the extras. Italy and the cities and towns we saw was also very interesting and well picked.
Enjoyed our Taste of Italy tour! Saw so many beautiful parts of Italy, ate fantastic food, and made many new friends! Our tour leader, Cate, and driver, Nico, worked very hard to make our experience the best. If you have ever wanted to visit Italy, this is the tour for you!!
Fantastic tour. Busy but packs in so much to truly get a taste. Branden was the best tour guide.
Best tour guide ever!!
Would suggest the waking tours be in smaller groups. Especially during high volume tourist times due to being hard to keep up with the tour guide.
It was a great tour. For some of the people on the tour, the walking up hills was a bit to much.
Our Tour guide Filip and driver Matheu are great, they gave us an opportunity to see and taste Italy in a short period, but full of experiences. Meeting new people with same agenda in life is wonderful and inspiring.
Got to see a lot however not as much time in some of the places that I wish could have had a few extra hours. The wine tasting was an amazing experience and such a nice place
I recently had the opportunity to embark on a wonderful tour of Italy, and it was an experience that will forever hold a special place in my heart. From the moment I set foot in this beautiful country, I was captivated by its rich history, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality. Our journey began in Rome, where ancient ruins like the Colosseum and the Roman Forum transported us back in time. The grandeur of the Vatican City left me in awe, especially when I gazed upon Michelangelo's masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel ceiling. As we ventured north to Florence, I was enchanted by the art and culture of Tuscany. The Uffizi Gallery and Florence Cathedral were absolute highlights, and strolling along the Arno River at sunset was a truly romantic experience. Our tour continued to Venice, where the intricate canals and ornate architecture made me feel like I was in a fairytale. A gondola ride through the narrow waterways was a dream come true, and exploring the historic neighborhoods of San Marco and Dorsoduro was a delight.
Filip has been a great team leader and Mateo a great driver. We covered lots of ground and saw lots of great sites. Very demanding for persons above 70 years of age.
From the moment of meeting the tour guide and the tour group we were loving every minute. The tour guide Jackie kept the tour on track, was funny, and made sure everyone was always ok and enjoying themselves. Jackie was amazing. With the extreme heat we experienced in the last few days, Jackie adjusted the tour enough to relieve the need to do too much walking in that heat. Thank you Jackie as none of us wanted heat stroke. All the Tours and stops along the way were awesome and amazing. We were a family of 4 and we all absolutely loved the tour. We will definitely travel with Expat again.
We saw a lot , and enjoyed the trip. We had a great tour leader
We recently returned home from a most exceptional tour hosted by Roma. Roma's knowledge of Italian history enriched our experience indescribably. We visited more sight then we could have imagined. This fast paced tour fit our expectations perfectly. Would go again with Roma as a guide a hundred times over!
This was a fun fast tour.
Vivien did such an amazing job in the tour! Very informative, good with timing and directions, and great with the people. She was always very enthusiastic, and just enjoyed helping us explore Italy. Had an amazing time, saw all the possible sights in the shortest amount of time, and can't wait to go back to spend more time in all those cities'
It was a great experience over-all except the hotel in Venice
great tour guide, Vivian!! totally enjoyed the sites.
My husband and I had an amazing experience exploring Italy with our Expat group! Our tour leader, Noddy, and our driver, Alberto, both did an excellent job taking care of our group! This was our second tour with Expat, and I'm sure there will be more in our future!
Noddy is such a great asset to your company, well traveled and answered everyone's questions and also made my birthday memorable. the selected cities to visit were ok
Well run and organized. Noddy was an amazing guide to Italy and picked excellent local guides. She warned us at the start that this wasn't a relaxing vacation and she was correct. There is a lot of walking and long days so be prepared. However it was definitely worth it as we got to see so much in such a short time.
Just finished the Taste of Italy tour and it was amazing. We saw so many different places in such a short time! Be prepared to walk and bring comfy shoes. Fabio was an amazing tour leader and did such a great job in taking care of all of us. He should be recognized.
Noddy, our tour leader was great. She kept everyone together and she was very friendly. Hotels were good.
This tour was everything I imagined and then some! We stayed busy, never bored, and got to see so many things. Noddy was an amazing tour guide, knowledgeable, kind, and understanding. Our driver Franco was also amazing & got us everywhere efficiently and safely.
THE GUIDE: Count yourselves among blessed if you have Noddy. She was energetic, fun, competent, so very organized, friendly, and went out of her way to get to know each of us personally. Her knowledge of each region we traveled through and monument we visited blew my mind. She was an absolutely bottomless font of knowledge and was only too happy to share whatever she could that would help us along the way. She quickly became a friend, and we were genuinely sad to say goodbye. THE FOOD: It's Italy! We did not have a bad experience at any meal; my goodness can these people cook. Hotels provide breakfast each morning ranging from a full, hot meal to croissants and coffee depending on the hotel. Included meals were also delish and a great way to get to know your tour fam. Do yourself a favor and book the dinner experience in Tuscany; it was the best meal/experience of the trip! THE TOUR: There is a LOT of walking (we put in about 6-8 miles a day). It's intense and so is the itinerary. We are 23 and 41 years old and were absolutely beat by the end of each day. You can skip whatever you wish, but you'll miss what you came here for! If you approach with thementality that this vacation is about packing as much as you can into a short timeframe and being able to sleep when it's over, you'll do just fine and be better for the experience. THE EXCURSIONS: We signed up for everything and every last activity was worth the money. Expat is also very particular about with whom it partners with for these optional tours and holds them to a high standard. This was our first tour with them, and I will go out of my way to make sure they are in charge of everything I book going forward. THE HOTELS: !). We booked knowing this was a value tour, which means you're not staying in a five-star resort or going to be right in the middle of the downtown areas but the public transportation was extremely well explained even though we found ourselves not needing it. Zero complaints!
Vivien was such a capable and knowledgeable leader. She exuded enthusiasm for Italy which made us fall in love with Italy even more. There was a good balance of free time and scheduled time. It was a fast pace, lots of walking, but absolutely fantastic. My 16 year old also loved the experience, despite being the youngest in the group.
Me and my husband booked the taste of Italy tour for our anniversary . Our tour guide was Vivian and she went above and beyond to make sure we were fully satisfied and had an amazing time. She made sure we knew where all the hotspots were and made sure we were safe at all times. She was very knowledgeable about the land and each place we went to. I highly recommend using expat to travel it made our trip one to remember for a lifetime of memories with no stress and a lot of fun !
Early rising to cover lots of destinations. Lots of time in coach but quite comfy with wifi, charger and toilet. Unfortunately had quite bad luck this time - Vatican city closed for easter - colloseum tickets were not available even as optional (sold out..) - rainy weathers and lots of traffic cancelling some of our schedules Roma (our leader) was fantastic however dealing with everything above. Kept us entertained, very knowledgable not with just history but with the cities. Very detailed recommendations on what we can do but at the same time keot the crowd under control very proficiently.
We really enjoyed our tour with Expat on the Taste of Italy trip in Aug 2019. It was really good value for money, meals were pretty good. One of the hotels was quite poor (Tuscany area), the room quality was so dated and sheets were not clean. All addressed on the tour with the guide and hotel which was resolved. Its very full on and you squeeze a lot in 7 days! Which is good if you want to see everything. Our tour guide was Vivien who no longer works for Expat, she was brilliant. Our airport transfer never turned up, so luckily our Tour guide remained at the hotel for an extra day so we were able to catch her in the hotel lobby for help. These were paid transfers through expat. It may be cheaper to book your own using hotel.
Just completed the Taste of Italy tour September/October. I'm 27 and was the youngest on the tour. I felt like our group was a little family though, always looking out for one another. It really is a "taste" of the major cities in the northern half of Italy. I feel like we got to see a lot for the price of the trip but didn't spend a lot of time at each place, to be expected when you see "Taste of Italy." A lot of walking was involved... according to my Health App, we walked 8.5 miles on one day. My favorite part was seeing some of the smaller towns along the way to visit the bigger cities on the coach. I paid to do all of the extra excursions and was very glad I did! Marysol was our tour guide and she was phenomenal- so knowledgeable about every where that we went and was able to answer all of our questions! She was a delight to be around, caring, funny, and truly talented at what she does. It can't be easy carrying around 50 tourist LOL! On the last day of our tour, we were given a detailed form to fill out for a review of the trip. I feel like expat takes those seriously. Prior to departure, expat customer service was great - replies within 24 hours and the reply was very detailed. I would definitely recommend Expat to a friend and will be using them again in the future!
We visited more cities and sites than were ever could have on our own. Having accommodations and travel handled for you is an amazing benefit.
Although I realized that the tour was only a "Taste of Italy" I was disappointed with the short amount of time we had in each town. The pace of all the walking was like training for a marathon. The time in Rome could have been shortened. The first day there could have been done with a bus tour to show most interesting parts of Rome; with a welcome dinner much closer to the hotel rather than a mile long walk (run) to the Metro station and another from the station to the restaurant (and all back again). Dinner was less than expected, especially considering the amount of traveling to get there. Second day could be the detailed tour of the classic areas. Very disappointed we did not go into the Coliseum. The most delightful towns we stopped at was Orvieto and San Gimignano, with not enough time. Too much time in Florence which is a large high-end shopping town, once you have seen the cathedral. Detailed maps of larger towns would have been helpful since getting lost is not that much fun, spoken from experience.
Amazing tour, we all had a blast Shabby our tour guide was fun, funny, energetic , knowledgeable, wonderful and a good heart person
