Eight-day journey from historic Rome to the beautiful Amalfi Coast and Sorrento
Guided tours in Rome and Pompeii
Option to visit the enchanting island of Capri
Just returned from our trip. Had an amazing time with great people. Our tour leader Lisa went over and above to make this a memorable holiday including giving us recommendation for places to eat and things to do in our free time.
My personal preference would have been for more time in Pompeii (half a day is barely time to scratch the surface) and to skip the stop in Naples, but if you're more interested in modern cities than archaeology, you'd probably disagree. This tour is a well-balanced mix, with something for everyone. Our tour leader was absolutely amazing - it was more like going on holiday with a friend than a paid guide!
No pre arranged airport pickup, waited an hour for then to be told to get a taxi, not a good start to the holiday. Explore leader disorganised didn't seem to know what she was doing. Had to wait for transport to Vesuvius which closed before we reached the top, very disappointing. Will not be using Explore in the future.
Accommodations were always very nice and the itinerary was amazing. Our Explore Leader, Manny, was the Best! She was so informative, set up special group meals where we could attend if we wanted to. She had amazing knowledge of everywhere we went and had such a great sense of humor. Our group was small and we all got along so well and much of this is attributed to Manny. Thank You! I look forward to traveling with your company again.
Overall, I enjoyed this trip. Hotels were a bit hit and miss . the capri trip was too expensive for what it was ( and query whether it needs to be included given there’s not really that much to do in sorrento for 2 days). Be warned the places this trip goes to are manically busy even at the end of the season so if crowds aren’t your thing this trip probably isn’t for you. Pompei and Minori I’d say were definitely my highlights.
My only concern about this trip was that I had difficulty finding the person picking me up from the airport. I think he was late. Our guide, Manny was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and organized, attentive to the needs of the group and helpful. At the end of the trip there was a train strike, which made connections difficult for some of the group who were travelling on by train. She went out of her way to help us. It was a really great tour, made even better by our wonderful guide.
This was a great trip. The leader, Manny (Mahnai), was excellent. The accommodations, while not high-end, were certainly adequate, especially considering you will be spending very little time at the hotel. The places we visited were all beautiful and the food was amazing. The highlight was probably the private boat tour to Capri. One thing to be aware of: there is a lot of walking involved, at least on a few days of the trip. Nothing too physically taxing, but you will put in some kilometers on certain days.
Our tour leader Manny went above & beyond her duties. When weather hindered our plans she researched and gave alternative options.
HI Team, Had a great holiday in Italy, however was a little disappointed in some of the accommodations, mainly there was no mini fridges in 2 of the hotels i think this should be mandatory in every room considering the heat we had across Italy its was 30 + Celsius every day. Thank you
