Step into Arequipa’s vibrant culinary scene with a hands-on Peruvian Cooking Class. In this fun, two-hour morning session, you’ll prepare traditional dishes in an open kitchen surrounded by lush gardens—no prior experience needed. Discover the secrets behind Peru’s world-renowned cuisine, using an array of fresh, colorful ingredients and learning from passionate local chefs. The class’s unique selling point is its immersive, approachable format, welcoming everyone from foodies to novices for a memorable, flavor-filled cultural experience.

Overview

At your arrival, we are going to receive you with a delicious welcome drink called Chicha Morada, a sweet refreshment made with purple corn. We will start this amazing food adventure preparing two traditional Peruvian dishes. Our professional instructor will explain to us, step by step, how to cook the selected menu. Before starting, we are going to put on our apron and chef’s hat, and let’s cook!
You will learn to cook one of these two types of menu:
* Andean Menu: the first course is a fresh salad called “Solterito”, made with onion, tomato, corn, beans, cheese and potatoes. As a second course, you’ll prepare “Rocoto Relleno”, made from hot peppers, stuffed with ground meat seasoned with spices, cheese and raisins. The rocoto is a strong spicy red fruit, with an apple similar shape.
* Traditional Menu: we will start cooking a tasty “Causa” as a first course, made with mash potato seasoned with yellow pepper and lemon, filled with avocado and tuna or chicken, decorated with black olives and vegetables. One of the most delicious Peruvian dishes to taste. The main course is a juicy “Lomo Saltado”, a traditional Chinese fusion dish, prepared in a wok. This dish has beef, onion, yellow pepper, tomato and French fries, with white rice on the side.
* Sea Menu: this menu is very special. We are going to prepare “Ceviche” as a first course, fresh fish marinated with lemon juice, accompanied by onion, sweet potato and corn. The second course will be “Pescado a lo Macho”, a delicious fried fish fillet topped with a delicious sauce of onions and tomatoes, with white rice on the side.
Enjoy the cooking class while you are sharing our travel experiences with the group, and spending a fun time. At the end, we are going to eat our own dishes, and a dessert.

Book this private, guided tour with us and get the chance to visit four beautiful lagoons as well as a traditional Inca bridge still in operation. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at around 5:00 am and head for the south of Cusco to the district of Quehue. Spend around three hours on road before leaving the vehicle and taking a short walk to see the last Quechua Bridge, Q’eswachaka (also called Queshuachaca). This bridge is built with qoya fibre, a material that is obtained from an autochthonous plant. However, in the past, it was ichu, an altiplánico grass, that was used to make such bridges. The work of renovating and maintaining this bridge is carried our annually by members of the nearby villages who still use it. See the bridge and learn more about its association with the Incas from your tour guide. Upon returning from the bridge, we will take short stops to photograph four beautiful lagoons: Laguna Pomacanchi, Laguna Acopia, Laguna Asnaqocha and Laguna Pampamarca. Your day ends on arrival in Cusco at around 6:00 pm. We will drop you off at your hotel in the city.
